If you want to apply for NSFAS funding in 2024, you should learn how to apply, which includes registering and activating your NSFAS account. The creation of a Nsfas account is the foundational process of the Nsfas online application, and students should not underestimate the importance of this process.

In this post, we will show you how to create your Nsfas account for free and have complete control over it for the academic year 2024-2025.

Before we begin, we should remind you that NSFAS is currently accepting new applications from students who are currently enrolled or will be enrolled in a public university or Tvet in South Africa.

The Nsfas online application is open from September 28th, 2023 to January 31st, 2024 for the January 2024 intake.

What you need to create an NSFAS account

To create your NSFAS account, the following are required;

An active cellphone number and your personal email address
A smart device that can access the internet.
Having consistent internet access during the application process
GOOGLE CHROME BROWSER
Soft copies of all supporting documentation (tiff, pdf, jpg or gif)
Make sure the scanned file is no larger than 512KB.
Certified and individually scanned documents (NOT MANDATORY)
A photocopy of your South African identification document or card
To replace ID documents, a student under the age of 18 must have a birth certificate.
a copy of your highest academic degree
A fully completed consent form signed by those on the forms who matter
Download and complete the DISABILITY ANNEXURE A form if you are a student with a disability.
Nsfas will require your parents’ or guardians’ ID cards.
If your parents have died, please provide a death certificate.
At least three of your relatives should serve as witnesses. Nsfas will need their ID cards.
Students who are working at the time of application must provide proof of annual income. This could be your pay stub, bank statement, or other documents showing how much you earn per year.

How to create NSFAS Account for Nsfas Funding

To register for an NSFAS account for 2024, follow the steps outlined below.

Step № 1.1: Applicants should go to www.nsfas.org.za to apply.
Step № 1.2: Click on the “myNSFAS” tab at the top right corner of the NSFAS webpage. The myNSFAS page will open with the welcome message “Welcome to the myNSFAS student portal.”
• Step № 1.3: To Re-register your myNSFAS account, enter your username (email address) and password.
• Step № 1.4: If you want to register, please click the “Register” button. Before registering your profile, please ensure that you have a valid copy of your South African ID or an unabridged birth certificate copy.
• Step № 1.5: Check the box to authorize NSFAS to verify and validate the information you’ve provided with third parties in 2024.
• Step № 1.6: Then, enter your ID number into the field exactly as it appears on your ID document.
• Step № 1.7: In the space provided, enter your full name and surname as they appear on your ID card.
• Step № 1.8: Fill in your current email address.
• Step № 1.9: Check your email address
• Step № 2.0: Please enter your cellphone number.
• Step № 2.1: Make a password for yourself.
• Step № 2.2: The password is then confirmed.
• Step № 2.3: Upload a copy of your identification document.
• Step № 2.4: Following that, please click on register to receive a one-time pin.
• Step № 2.5: An OTP will be sent to the email address and cellphone number you provided (this OTP will expire after 24 hours)
• Step № 2.6: Enter the OTP and press the submit button.
• Step № 2.7: congratulations, your NSFAS Registration for 2024 is complete.
