DUT Admission Requirements For 2026 Intake
Each course at the Durban University of Technology has its own specific entry requirements. To assist you, below are the minimum entry requirements for admission into Degree, Diploma and Higher certificate
For Higher Certificate:
- National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4.
- At least 50% in English.
For Diploma:
- National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4.
- Minimum requirements:
- At least 50% in three fundamental subjects, including English.
- At least 60% in three compulsory vocational subjects.
For Bachelor’s Degree:
- National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4.
- Minimum requirements:
- At least 60% in three fundamental subjects, including English.
- At least 70% in four compulsory vocational subjects.

Documents Required for DUT 2026 Applications
All prospective students are required by the Durban University of Technology to submit the following documents as part of the application process:
- Certified copies of your identity document
- Final Grade 11 & Grade 12 certificate ( June/ Trial report if you have not written your final examination)
- Students transferring from other universities should submit an original academic record and a certificate of good conduct
- A valid study permit
- A valid medical aid/health insurance cover
- A valid passport
- Proof of application fee: Prospective applicants applying through the CAO portal must pay R250 and R300, respectively, for South African and non-South African applicants.

DUT Accommodation Applications 2026
Durban University of Technology provides campus housing and residence facilities to new students upon successful course registration. Applications must be submitted online and not directly at the residences.
- The closing date for all applications is 30 September 2025. Late applications will not be accepted due to limited space.
- NSFAS students must have a provisional or firm acceptance before being admitted into a residence.
- Bursary students must provide proof of their bursary upon registration.
- To apply for DUT residence, you must indicate on the application form whether you require DUT campus accommodation.
