Before being able to access the application portal, the NSFAS application status site, and any other information from NSFAS, prospective applicants who are prepared to apply for NSFAS financing must first have an NSFAS account. All communications, including the NSFAS allocations of money, are accessible through the NSFAS account.

A cell phone
An email address (Gmail, Yahoo, etc)
A cell phone number registered
SA identity document

How to Create myNSFAS Account (New Applicants)

We have provided you with the steps for creating and activating your myNSFAS account

Applicants should go to www.nsfas.org.za to apply.
Click on the “myNSFAS” tab at the top right corner of the NSFAS webpage. The myNSFAS page will open with the welcome message “Welcome to the myNSFAS student portal.”
To Re-register your myNSFAS account, enter your username (email address) and password.
If you want to register, please click the “Register” button. Before registering your profile, please ensure that you have a valid copy of your South African ID or an unabridged birth certificate copy.
Check the box to authorize NSFAS to verify and validate the information you’ve provided with third parties in 2024.
Then, enter your ID number into the field exactly as it appears on your ID document.
In the space provided, enter your full name and surname as they appear on your ID card.
Fill in your current email address.
Check your email address
Please enter your cellphone number.
Make a password for yourself.
The password is then confirmed.
Upload a copy of your identification document.
Following that, please click on register to receive a one-time pin.
An OTP will be sent to the email address and cellphone number you provided (this OTP will expire after 24 hours)
Enter the OTP and press the submit button.
