How to Reapply to UCT for the 2026 Academic Year

The University of Cape Town has officially reopened the application process for returning students for the 2026 academic year. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students are now invited to reapply.

All reapplications must be submitted through the UCT online portal before the specified deadlines. For more detailed information on readmission to UCT for 2026, please continue reading this article.

Prospective applicants who applied for the 2026 admissions but were not accepted can now reapply. UCT is currently accepting applications from all candidates, including those who applied previously.

When to Reapply to UCT 2026

Prospective applicants who were not accepted for the 2025 academic intake are now invited to reapply to the University of Cape Town for the 2026 academic year. The university is currently accepting applications from all candidates, including those who applied previously. The application deadlines are as follows:

  • Undergraduate Applicants: July 31, 2025
  • Postgraduate Applicants: November 30, 2025

Application Fee for UCT Re-admissions for 2026

All returning students applying for readmission to the University of Cape Town for the 2026 academic year are required to pay the following application fees:

  • South African and SADC Applicants: R100
  • International Applicants: R300

Please note that application fees are not refundable under any circumstances and paying the fee does not guarantee admission to UCT.

How to Reapply at University of Cape Town

Follow these steps to reapply as a returning student at University of Cape Town for the 2026 academic intake:

  • Visit www.uct.ac.za.
  • Click on Applicants & Students at the top of the page.
  • Select Apply Now and choose the Returning Student tab.
  • Enter your student number and PIN to access the portal.
  • If you’ve forgotten your PIN, click Request a PIN, enter your student number, and check your registered email for the new PIN.
  • Once logged in, complete all the required fields.
  • Alternatively, download the application form from the UCT website, complete it manually, and submit it.
  • Submit your completed form in person at any of the UCT campuses or send it by post to the university.

Download the University of Cape Town Application Form from the website www.uct.ac.za; Fill out the form completely and answer all questions in black ink (pen) before submitting it with all supporting documents.

Documents Required for UCT Re-applications

The following must be submitted with your application:

Undergraduate

  • A copy of your examination results from Grade 11 until September of grade 12 must be submitted.
  • Passport or ID
  • Proof of payment for the application fee
  • Transferring students should submit all transcripts and academic records

Postgraduate

  • Certified paper copies of documents uploaded online as part of your application
  • Academic transcripts which may not have been available at the time of your application must be uploaded to our
  • student system; please log in using your username and password, and complete the submission; certified paper copies of such uploaded documents must be submitted
  • Where applicable, evidence of English language proficiency must be provided
  • V., indicating work experience (if any, give name(s) of the employer(s), period(s) of employment (e.g. 2019-2023) and primary area of responsibility
  • Research outline and/or motivation of specified length
  • Referees’ names and contact details (two referees will be required)
  • Application fee
