When To Apply At Stellenbosch University For 2026

You can submit your 2026 applications along with all supporting documents starting from April 1, 2025, when the Stellenbosch University application window officially opens. Be sure to check specific deadlines for your chosen program, as some courses may close earlier than the general July 31, 2025 deadline.

What You’ll Need

You must upload or submit the following documents to a specific channel. Before applying for admission to the Stellenbosch University, make sure you have them ready.

If you have completed your Grade 12 exams, you must provide a certified copy of your results.
Certified copy of your Grade 11 (if you are currently in Grade 12)

Medical Report
English Proficiency For Undergraduate programs, proof of IELTS with an overall score of 6 and TOEFL with an average score of 80–104 is required
Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English).

Application Fees

An application fee of R100 is required from the following applicants:

South African citizens
Permanent residents of South Africa
Refugee status holders in South Africa
Asylum seeker status holders in South Africa
Diplomatic status holders in South Africa
International undergraduate and
Postgraduate applicants

All online application users must submit proof of payment by attaching a copy of the receipt to the fully completed application form for 2026 for submission.

To apply to the Stellenbosch University, follow the steps outlined below.

Log in to the application portal

Visit the official website at www.sun.ac.za/Apply if you have good internet access.
If you are a new applicant, select “New Applicant.”
Select Yes/No from the drop box if you have the student number.
Select Yes/No from the drop-down menu to indicate whether you are returning to finish an unfinished application.

Accept the Clause to Proceed

Read the clause that appears after the previous step and check the box “I Accept.” to continue

Register your profile

Enter your Biographical details, Contact Information, Residence Information, and nationality. ( Please enter your biographical details in CAPS.)
Click on the Next Button to continue to the next page
You will then receive an email with your Student Number and a temporary pin. You can choose to change or keep the pin.

Log in with your new student number

Enter your student number and PIN now.

Choose your field of studies

Choose your course after reviewing the individual course prerequisites.
Before applying, download the university prospectus and review the course requirements.
The decision will be based on these criteria. Please reconsider your selection if it does not meet the requirements.

Pay the Required Fee

Pay the application fee and upload the proof of payment on the portal during the online submission

Upload the supporting documents

Keep uploading the necessary documents. These documents must be scanned and uploaded individually.
The scanned files should not exceed 5MB or 512KB in size. Tiff, pdf, jpg, or gif file formats are required.
Remember to save each page before moving on to the next.
If you do not save your data before proceeding, you will lose it.
