The University of Cape Town application fee for the 2026 academic year is R100 for domestic students and R300 for International students. You are required to remit the fee into the bank account of UCT before the closing date

What Documents Are Needed to Apply

One (1) Certified Copy of each of the following documents is needed/required to apply to the University of Cape Town:

Undergrad. Documents Required

  • A copy of your examination results from Grade 11 until September of grade 12 must be submitted.
  • Passport or ID
  • Proof of payment for the application fee
  • Transferring students should submit all transcripts and academic records
  • Additional documents for international prospective students:
    • A copy of relevant results
    • A copy of your passport

Postgraduate Documents Required

  • Completed mandatory undertaking
  • Copy of your ID
  • Copy of your academic record

How to Apply online at the University of Cape Town

To apply for the 2026 academic intake at the University of Cape Town, please follow these steps:

  • Go to www.uct.ac.za.
  • Click on Apply Here.
  • Enter your ID number
  • Agree to the POPI Act.
  • Click the “Next Button” to proceed.
  • List the full names of all relatives and payment-responsible parties.
  • Enter your address and phone number.
  • Select your qualification type (undergraduate or postgraduate).
  • Enter your last school leaving certificate number and matriculation/Grade 12 year.
  • Fill in all required fields, including personal and academic details.
  • Enter the name of your most recent high school.
  • Choose at least 3 study courses.
  • Upload all supporting documents.
  • Double-check all entered details for accuracy.
  • Confirm accuracy and submit your application.
  • Pay the non-refundable application fee and upload proof of payment.

Admission Advice for University of Cape Town

  • Meeting the minimum admission requirements for your chosen/intended programme of study does not guarantee admission, as limited spaces are available in each programme.
  • You must however meet all the minimum admission requirements for the programme you intend to study before you will be considered for admission.
  • Before you apply, download the UCT prospectus and read about the statutory and university requirements of your preferred course.
  • Owing to specific capacity constraints, the University reserves the right to select candidates for admission to certain fields of study. This means that prospective students who comply with the minimum requirements will not automatically be admitted to the courses in question.
  • Because of the capacity limitations and the high demand from students for admission to particular fields of study, students will be selected on the basis of their Grade 12 results for admission to these fields
