UJ Application Documents and when to submit them for 2026

The following documents must be submitted to UJ as soon as possible before the course application deadline. If you need to upload any missing documents, you must do so within the application deadlines or risk losing your admission.

South African Applicant

Certified duplicates of your identification documents (ID)
If you have completed your Grade 12 exams, you must provide a certified copy of your results.
Certified copy of your Grade 11 (if you are currently in Grade 12)

Are there any other countries apart from South Africa?

A certified copy of your native country’s identification document
A certified copy of your passport number from your home country
Study Visa in South Africa
Medical Report
English Proficiency For Undergraduate programs, proof of IELTS with an overall score of 6 and TOEFL with an average score of 80–104 is required
Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English).

Uploading Online Documents Instructions

Each document must be scanned, saved and uploaded individually against each uploading Certificate code as indicated
All documents should be scanned in any of the following file types: tiff, pdf, jpg or gif
The maximum scanned file size is 5MB each.

How to Apply for UJ 2026

Both new and returning students are encouraged to apply online for free at www.uj.ac.za, according to the University of Johannesburg (UJ). However, there is an R200 non-refundable application cost for individuals who would rather apply by hand. To save money, applicants are encouraged to apply online.
