The application to study undergraduate, postgraduate, honours, and postgraduate diploma qualifications for the academic year 2025 is officially open from August 21, 2024 to 22 November 2024, at the largest open-distance university in South Africa, the University of South Africa (UNISA).

Application Documents Required For UNISA 2025

Unisa Application Fee For 2025

Unisa requires all applicants applying for the first time to pay a non-refundable application fee of R140.00 on the day of the application. This will enable applicants to receive an identity number called a student number, which will be used throughout their studies.

The applicant can choose to pay the application fee via First National Bank (FNB) or using the Capitec mobile app to effect the payment before the closing date.

The application fee will not be given back to any applicant if the applicant decides not to continue with the application, does not qualify for the courses selected, or is not given admission because of the limited spaces available at the chosen courses.

To secure your spot at UNISA for the 2025 academic year, follow the steps provided below to apply now.

Go to the UNISA official website at www.unisa.ac.za.
Select and click on Apply Now.
Select and click on the qualifications you seek to apply for.
Enter your identity number.
Complete the personal details section.
Click on the next button to proceed.
Select and click on your courses to apply for. Apply for two study courses.
Complete the home and postal address sections.
Key in your previous examination results (Matric or equivalent results).
Upload all the required documents.
Click on the submit button.
You will receive an acknowledgment of your application via email and SMS.
In the email is the reference number for the payment of the application fee.
Pay the R140 non-refundable application fee at FNB or pay with Capitec APP. Indicate your ID number and the reference number on the payment slip.
Upload the receipt to receive your student number.
