Follow the steps below to complete the University Of Pretoria 2026 applications before the deadline:

  • Click on “Apply Online.”
  • From the drop-down menu, select “Start a New Application.”
  • Accept the privacy notice by clicking OK.
  • Ensure that all special characters are correctly entered.
  • Provide your personal details in the required fields.
  • Carefully enter the characters shown in the security code field.
  • Click on the “Go” tab to proceed.
  • Read the application confirmation page and disclaimer carefully—keep this page for reference.
  • Complete the required fields in the drop-down sections.
  • Click OK to confirm your details.
  • Verify and finalize your application, then click “Continue.”
  • You will receive a student ID and temporary password via email—ensure you use an active email address.
  • Use your ID number and password to log in by following the link provided in the email.
  • If desired, create a new password for future access.
  • Click “Save and Next” to continue.
  • Review and edit your application summary page before proceeding.
  • Begin your online application and ensure all required fields are completed.
  • Upload the necessary documents in the correct format.
  • Pay the non-refundable application fee into the university’s official account.

UP Application Deadlines for the 2026 Academic Year

Prospective students planning to enroll at the University Of Pretoria should be aware of the following application deadlines. Late applications will only be considered if space is still available, so it is strongly recommended to apply early.

  • Saturday, 31 May 2025: Veterinary Science programmes
  • Monday, 30 June 2025: All other programmes

Minimum Admission Requirements for University of Pretoria (UP) Qualifications

Higher Certificate

Applicants seeking admission into a Higher Certificate program at the University of Pretoria must meet the following minimum requirements:

  • Possession of an NCV Level 4 qualification issued by the Council for General and Further Education and Training.

Diploma

To qualify for a Diploma program at UP, applicants must meet these requirements:

  • An NCV Level 4 qualification issued by the Council for General and Further Education and Training.
  • A minimum of 40% in three (3) Fundamental subjects, including the institution’s language of instruction.
  • At least 50% in three (3) compulsory Vocational subjects.
  • Compliance with the minimum admission criteria of the university.

Bachelor’s Degree

For admission into a Bachelor’s Degree program at UP, applicants must meet the following criteria:

  • An NCV Level 4 qualification issued by the Council for General and Further Education and Training.
  • A minimum of 50% in three (3) Fundamental subjects, including the institution’s language of instruction.
  • At least 60% in four (4) compulsory Vocational subjects.
  • Fulfillment of the university’s minimum admission requirements.

To study at the University Of Pretoria, the minimum Admission Point Score (APS) needed is 26 points or higher, depending on the program (Calculate your APS).
