Wits University 2026 Applications: Opening & Closing Dates

The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) has confirmed that Saturday, 1 March 2025 will be the official opening date for 2026 applications. This opening date applies to all prospective students, regardless of country or language.

Although the application opening date is the same for all courses, the closing dates vary depending on the program. Applications received after the deadline will not be considered.

In this article, we will disclose the official closing dates for 2026 applications across all courses offered at the University of the Witwatersrand.

Wits University Application Deadlines 2026

The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) sets application deadlines to ensure smooth processing and timely selection for admission. All applications, including supporting documents, must be submitted by the relevant deadline:

Monday, June 30, 2025:
- Faculty of Health Sciences (all programs),
- Bachelor of Architectural Studies,
- Bachelor of Audiology, Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology
- Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television.
Tuesday, September 30, 2025: All other Wits University programs.

Late applications will not be accepted.

How to Apply to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) Online for Admission in 2026

Prospective applicants must follow the steps outlined below to submit an application form. A step must not be skipped for any reason. To apply to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), you must complete all of the steps outlined below:

Go to www.wits.ac.za, the official WITS website.
Click on the STUDY@WITS icon.
Select “Apply Online.”
Create an account by providing your ID and password.
Log in to the application portal using your ID number.
Read and accept the rules and regulations.
Select your qualification from the drop-down menu or type it in to view available programs.
Save and continue after selecting your course.
Complete all required fields in the application form.
Accept the rules once again.
Click on Submit to finalize your application.
Upload all required supporting documents as seen below.
- Current Matriculants: Grade 11 final grades (upload only)
- Already Matriculated: Certified copies of matric certificates/foreign school leaving certificates
- From other institutions: Certified copies of official academic records and a statement/certificate of good conduct stamped by the registrar
Pay the application fee as seen below and upload proof of payment.
- South African citizens and permanent residents: R100
- International applicants: R700
WITS will send an email confirmation upon receiving your application.
Your acknowledgment letter will contain a student number and the contact details of an Admissions Consultant for any queries
