WITS University Online Application 2025-2026

Wits University Undergraduate Applications: Open to Qualified High School Graduates! Applications to Wits University are welcomed from high school graduates (matriculated students) who wish to pursue tertiary education. All applications are considered, regardless of the applicant’s background, based on academic merit and the availability of space in the desired program.

However, meeting the admission requirements remains mandatory for all applicants, irrespective of their location

Wits 2025 Applications Open March 1

Applications are being accepted for the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) starting March 1, 2024. Prospective applicants are required to download the university’s application form, complete it, and submit it along with their academic results, certificates, and any other relevant supporting documents. Online application submission is also available. The closing date for applications to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) is September 30, 2024

In accordance with the POPI Act, applicants are required to complete their own applications and accept the University’s legal declaration of indemnity and undertaking. The University will not engage with third-party agents facilitating applications on behalf of applicants.

Applications are now being accepted by the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) for the 2025-2026 academic year.

Learners and non-learners from all over the world are encouraged to apply. The selection process does not discriminate based on country or language.

Wits Application Requirement for 2025-2026

The following documents are required during the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) application process.

Current Matriculants: Upload your Grade 11 final grades (no hard copy required).
Already Matriculated: Upload certified copies of all your matric certificates/foreign school leaving certificates.
From other postsecondary institutions: For all tertiary registrations, upload a certified copy of official academic records, including a statement/certificate of good conduct stamped by the institution’s registrar.

WITS Application Fee For 2025-2026

There is a non-refundable application fee of R100 for South African citizens and R700 for foreign citizens, which can be paid through the self-service portal. Log in to the self-service portal and click the Campus Finances tile. Select Make a Payment > Application Fee

IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO DETERMINE FIRST WHAT YOU WANT TO STUDY AT UFS BEFORE YOU START THE ONLINE APPLICATION PROCESS.

Wits 2025 Application Online Process

To apply for a course at the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), please follow the steps outlined below:

Log in to the Application Portal

Recommendation for a Browser (Mozilla Firefox and Chrome)
Go to www.wits.ac.za/applications/ if you have a good internet connection.

Programme Selection

Choose your programs wisely (Maximum of 3 programmes)
If you apply to two programs in the same Faculty, it is advised that you apply to one program in a less restricted faculty.
Be flexible, especially if you’re applying to programs in Faculties such as Health Sciences or Engineering.
Do not enter the program duration because the system will recognize the year you are applying for.

Effect the application fee payment

A non-refundable application fee of R100 is required for South African citizens and R700 for foreign citizens.

Upload the supporting documents

Gather your documents or upload further/ outstanding documents. These Documents must be in the format required by the university such as PDF AND TIFF

Submit the Online forms

You will receive an email from the University confirming receipt of your application.
The acknowledgement letter will include a personal number (which will become your student number) as well as a contact person to whom you should direct any questions.
The student self-service portal https://self-service.wits.ac.za will house all University correspondence.

N.B: Ensure that you submit the application and receive a letter acknowledging that your application has been submitted

There is no fee to be assisted by THE University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) staff.
