When Does Registration for 2026 Open?
The Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) registration period for the 2026 academic year will not open before January 2026. Students are encouraged to wait until the official opening date and prepare in advance once they receive confirmation of acceptance
CPUT First-Year Student Registration 2026
- Registration Dates: Monday, 12 January 2026 – Friday, 12 March 2026
- Who Can Register:
- If you wrote Grade 12 in 2025 or earlier, you may register from 12 January 2026.
- If you wrote Grade 12 in 2026, your results must first be verified by your faculty. You can only register once you receive a confirmation SMS from the admission office
Important: Register immediately once eligible to secure your space.
Returning Students Registration 2026
- Online and off-campus registrations vary by faculty.
- Some programmes will allow off-campus registrations (with no assistance) from as early as Monday, 11 January 2026.
- Students must ensure they have financial clearance before proceeding with registration.
Postgraduate Registration 2026
Returning Students
- Full Research M and D programmes: 31 March 2026
- MTech/Masters course-based programmes: 31 March 2026
First-Time Registering Postgraduates
- Full Research M and D programmes: 31 May 2026

Online Assistance for Registration
CPUT has increased online support for students during the registration process. You can register conveniently from home using a smartphone, tablet, or computer. Minimum requirements:
- Internet Explorer 7 or higher
- Adobe Acrobat Reader 7 or high
Financial Clearance & Payments
- First-year students: No financial clearance required to register.
- Returning students with outstanding debt: Cannot proceed with registration until cleared.

International students must complete the clearance process before registering. This applies to:

Residence Registration 2026
- Students must complete academic registration before registering for residence.
- Further details will be communicated directly by the Residence Division.
How to Do CPUT 2026 Academic Registration Online
You must follow the steps below to complete the CPUT 2026 academic registration
- Go to the Students tab on the CPUT website at www.cput.ac.za
- Click on the “Student Online Services (SOS)” link
- Click on “Log in to SOS”
- Registered Users”, will appear.
- Select ‘Student’ and type in your student number and PIN, and click “Login
- Select “Student Enquiry” on the left.
- Go to “Summarized Statement of Account”.
- Verify that the upfront payment shows as a credit on your account.
- Select “Student Administration” on the left
- Select “Personal Information Update” on the left to verify your details.
- Click on “Save” at the bottom of the page once you have updated any of above information
- Select “Academic Registration” on the left
- Select “Rules & Regulations
- Click on the “I Accept” button at the bottom
- Select “Submit Registration” on the left.
- Select your “Employment Status” from the drop-down list.
- Click on the “Save and Continue” or “Save – Continue later” or “Restart Process” button.
- Select “Submit Registration” >> “Possible Subject Selection”.
- Select your Subjects, by ticking the box next to each subject
- Select the “Save and Continue” or “Save – Continue later” button
- Select the “Continue” or “Restart Process” or “Print Registration Details” button to print
- Select the “Print Cost Details” button to print the Registration Costs.
- Click on the “Accept Registration” button.
- Select and check the I ACCEPT box
- Select “Proof of Registration” on the left to print your proof of registration
- You have successfully completed your Registration.
