We are pleased to announce the opening of the 2027 application cycle at the Central University of Technology (CUT), Free State, South Africa. Prospective students wishing to enrol in undergraduate, postgraduate, or distance learning programmes are invited to submit their applications online.

CUT 2027 Application Dates
The 2027 application and enrolment cycle will open on 8 May 2026 and close on 30 September 2026 for all qualifications.
Important:
- Late applications will not be accepted.
- There will be no second-semester application period.

- Faculty of Engineering, Built Environment and Information Technology
- Faculty of Health and Environmental Sciences
- Faculty of Management Sciences

Required Documents for CUT 2027 Application
All applicants must upload the following documents before submitting their application:
- South African ID or Passport (for identity verification).
- Grade 12 results or the latest available school results (Grade 11 or Grade 12).
- Academic transcripts or certificates if you have previously studied at another institution.
- School or institutional documentation confirming where you studied.
Important:
Applications without uploaded documents will be considered incomplete and will not be processed.
CUT 2027 Application Fee
Good news for applicants: There is no application fee for the 2027 CUT application cycle. All applications can be submitted free of charge through the online portal.

Steps to Apply to CUT – How to Apply online
Follow the steps below to complete your 2027 online application:
Step 1: Visit the Application Website

- Click Apply Online, or visit: www.cut.ac.za
- Navigate to: Study at CUT → Apply Online
Step 2: Review Application Information
Carefully read the application information page and check:
- Programmes offered
- Minimum admission requirements
- Required documents
- Information about residences, bursaries, NSFAS, and tuition fees
Step 3: Choose a Programme
Navigate to Programmes Offered and review:
- Minimum admission points
- NQF level
- Duration of study
- Required subjects
Select:
- First-choice programme
- Second-choice programme (backup option)
Step 4: Start the Online Application
- Access the Online Application Portal.
- Click New Application if you are applying for the first time.
- Returning students can retrieve their student number or PIN.
Step 5: Complete Personal Information
Provide the following details:
- Accept the application declaration.
- Enter your biographical information exactly as it appears on your ID or passport.
- Provide your contact details for communication.
Step 6: Enter Academic Information
Provide your academic results:
- Upload Grade 12 results (if available), or
- Manually enter Grade 11 or Grade 12 results.
Add each subject using the Add Subject option.
Step 7: Provide Education History
Enter details of your education background:
- School attended
- Previous institution (if applicable)
- Any qualifications obtained
Step 8: Select Programmes
Add:
- First-choice programme
- Second-choice programme
Step 9: Review Your Application
Carefully review all the information provided and correct any errors before continuing.
Step 10: Upload Required Documents
- Click Load/View Document.
- Select Upload Document.
- Choose the file from your device.
- Click Save.
Note: Applications submitted without supporting documents will be incomplete.
Step 11: Confirm Submission
- Verify that all documents have been uploaded successfully.
- Take a screenshot of the confirmation page for your records.
- Keep your student number to track your application status.
CUT Admission Requirements
To be admitted to a programme at the Central University of Technology (CUT), applicants must:
- Possess a National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an equivalent qualification approved by the university.
- Achieve a minimum of 27 points on the CUT scoring scale.
- Meet the specific admission requirements of the chosen programme.
Additional Requirements
- Life Orientation contributes to the total score but is limited to a maximum of one point.
- Applicants must demonstrate English language proficiency, typically at least 50% in English as either Home Language or First Additional Language.
Special Consideration
If an applicant meets the subject requirements but does not reach the minimum points threshold, admission may still be considered if space is available in the programme.
Applicants who do not meet these requirements may also be considered through potential testing, as outlined in the CUT academic calendar.
