Durban University of Technology officially opened applications for the 2026 academic year on Tuesday, April 1, 2025. DUT welcomes all students interested in pursuing undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications, regardless of language proficiency, educational background, or nationality. Prospective candidates can visit the university’s online application portal to begin the application process.

The application portal will remain open until varying deadlines depending on the program chosen. Students are encouraged to apply as soon as possible, particularly for popular courses, as they may fill up quickly. With DUT’s competitive admission process, it is advisable to submit applications early to increase the chances of securing a place.

DUT 2026 Application Timelines

The Durban University of Technology is now accepting applications for the 2026 academic year, starting from April 1, 2025. This opportunity is available to both new applicants and those who have applied in the past. All applications, along with the necessary supporting documents, must be submitted by September 30, 2025.

What You Need to Apply for Admission at the Durban University of Technology for 2026

The following documents will be required when completing the DUT 2026 application form:

  1. Certified copies of your identity document
  2. Final Grade 11 and Grade 12 certificates (or June/Trial report if you have not yet completed your final exams)
  3. For students transferring from other universities, an original academic record and certificate of good conduct must be provided
  4. A valid study permit
  5. Proof of valid medical aid or health insurance coverage
  6. A valid passport
  7. Proof of payment of the application fee

DUT Application Fee For 2025-2026

Applicants applying to Durban University of Technology via the CAO portal are required to pay an application fee of R250 for South African applicants and R300 for non-South African applicants.

Steps to Apply for DUT 2026?

Durban University of Technology accepts both online and manual applications. To apply online, follow the guidelines below:

  1. Use either Mozilla Firefox or Chrome for the application process.
  2. Make sure you have a stable internet connection.
  3. Select the course you wish to apply for.
  4. Visit the official DUT website at www.dut.ac.za and click on the “Apply” button.
  5. New applicants should submit their applications through the CAO online platform at www.cao.ac.za.
  6. After reviewing all the details, click on “Continue with Application.”
  7. Ensure that both your application and payment are submitted before the deadline.
  8. Have a mobile phone and an active email address on hand to complete the online application.
  9. Fill in all required fields accurately.
  10. Upload certified copies of the necessary documents.
  11. Pay the application fee as instructed.
  12. Your application will be processed once the payment is confirmed.
  13. Click on “Submit Application” to finalize your submission.
  14. You will receive your application status via email or SMS.

Durban University of Technology Paper-based Application for 2026

You can print a hard copy of the application form from the official website and fill it out by hand with a pen. Application forms and supporting documentation must be submitted to the Admissions Office. You have three options for submitting your application form and supporting documents:

DUT Admission and Entry Requirements for the 2026 Academic Year

For Bachelor’s Degree:

  • National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4.
  • Minimum requirements include:
    • At least 60% in three core subjects, including English.
    • A minimum of 70% in four compulsory vocational subjects.

For Higher Certificate:

  • National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4.
  • A minimum of 50% in English.

For Diploma:

  • National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4.
  • Minimum requirements include:
    • At least 50% in three core subjects, including English.
    • A minimum of 60% in three mandatory vocational subjects
