When to Apply to UNIVEN For 2026

The University of Venda is now accepting applications for the 2026 academic year, with the deadline for all academic applications set for 26 September 2025. Prospective students are encouraged to submit their applications early to ensure consideration.

Due to the high demand for its programs, UNIVEN cannot accommodate late or walk-in applications. Be sure to apply before the specified deadline to secure your place at the university.

How to Apply at University of Venda for 2026 Admissions

To apply to the University of Venda  for “admission in 2026”, follow the steps below

Step 1: Go to www.univen.ac.za to access the official application portal.

  • You ‘ll need to have the following:
    • South African ID number
    • Cell phone number
    • Email address
    • Smart device
  • Visit the UNIVEN home page
  • Click on the application link titled “APPLY NOW” to begin your application process.

Step 2: Start the online application process

  • Input your ID number (SA ID card/A valid Passport).
  • Recheck to ensure accuracy
  • Accept the POPI Acts to proceed

Step 4: Create a 5-Digit PIN

  • Choose a unique, memorable 5-digit PIN.
  • Confirm the PIN by entering the same number again.
  • Once confirmed, proceed with the rest of your application.

Step 5: Save and Continue Later

If you need to take a break during your application process, you can save your progress and return later to complete it, as long as the deadline has not passed.

  • Simply click the “Save” option to store your progress.
  • Log back into the application portal at any time to pick up where you left off.
  • Use your 5-digit PIN to access and continue your saved application.

Please note: By saving your progress, you can take your time to complete the application without the risk of losing any information you’ve already entered

Step 6: Upload Required Documents

You must scan and upload the following documents as part of your application:

  • A copy of your ID or Passport
  • Your Grade 11 final results (if still in school)
  • Academic record and certificate of good conduct (for transfer students)
  • National Senior Certificate (for Matriculants)

For international applicants, the following additional documents are required:

  • A copy of your study/residence permit
  • Medical insurance documentation
  • SAQA Evaluation Certificate
  • Your ID number or student reference number

Step 7: Complete & Submit the Application

Final Stage of Application

  • Complete all required fields carefully.
  • Select at least two study courses.
  • Enter your academic history and previous academic results accurately.
  • Double-check all information to avoid any errors.
  • Once everything is filled in correctly, click the ‘submit’ button to finalize and submit your application.

Step 8: Receive Your Student Number

  • After submitting your application, you will be assigned a student number.
  • Check your email (including the spam folder) for this important reference number.

University of Venda (UNIVEN) Admission Requirements for the 2026 Intake

To be eligible for admission to studies at UNIVEN, applicants must meet the following requirements for diploma, degree and certificate  qualifications

  • Degree Programs: Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with an achievement rating of 4 (50-59%) in four 20-credit subjects. A minimum of 26 APS points is required. If you have completed Grade 12, you must also have a bachelor’s or matric exemption.

  • Diploma Programs: Applicants must have an NSC with an achievement rating of 3 (40-49%) in four 20-credit subjects.

  • Certificate Programs: The minimum requirement is an NSC.

Applicants to the University of Venda can expect to receive notification on their application status by the end of October 2025. Applicants can however check the status of their applications by following the steps below.

  • Go to the application page portal
  • Select and click on UNIVEN 2026 application status
  • Fill in the form with your ID, passport number, or student number.
  • Enter your first name in full.
  • Click on LOGIN
