How To Start A New Application At UP For 2025-2026
The University of Pretoria (UP) application form is now open for online and paper submissions from first-time and previous applicants seeking to commence a new application for the 2025-2026 academic year. Individuals interested in studying at UP can initiate a new application or resume a previous one if it remains open. All applicants are advised to verify they meet the program requirements before commencing their application. The opening date for the online application form is set for April 2nd, 2024, with a closing date in June 2024 that varies depending on the chosen course.
The Application is Completed Only Once
The online application system allows you to submit your application only once. While you can continue working on your application until the deadline, further edits will be unavailable after the submission window closes.
Upon successful completion of your application before the deadline, you will receive an email containing your allocated student number (EMPLID) and further instructions. This email will detail how to access the student portal to track your application progress and view results.
When to Apply for Admission at the University of Pretoria for 2025-2026 Admissions
Applications for the University of Pretoria’s 2025 academic year will be accepted starting on April 2, 2024. The application deadline for the Faculty of Veterinary Science is May 31, 2024, while the deadline for all other undergraduate and postgraduate programs is June 30, 2024. It is important to meet these deadlines to avoid being denied admission.
Before you start A new Application, ensure you have the following documents
- Your year-end Grade 11 marks, or
- If you have already completed Grade 12, your final Grade 12 results.
- You will later need to scan the school’s results so that it is available to be uploaded.
- A certified academic record and a certificate of conduct will need to be scanned and uploaded.
- Proof of application fee
You will only be able to submit your online application once you have:
- Completed the full online application form, AND
- Uploaded all the necessary scanned supporting documents in .pdf format, AND
- Either paid the application fee by credit card OR upload proof of bank deposit at Standard Bank, Account Number 012602604.
- If you have not clicked APPLY, your form has not been submitted.
How to Start a new Application at the University of Pretoria
If you want to start a new application at the University of Pretoria for the academic year 2025-2026, follow the steps below.
- STEP 1: Enter the URL of the University of Pretoria’s online Study Application
- STEP 2: Type the six characters into the Security Code field
- STEP 3: Click the button Create application ID
- STEP 4: Once you have received an email from UP containing your Application ID and a temporary password, click the link below to authenticate your details and reset your password.
- STEP 5: Enter “Application ID” and “Password” received in the automated email, then click on “log in
- STEP 6: Create your own “new password” which you will easily remember, confirm “new password” and click on “Continue”
- STEP 7: Password change confirmation screen, click “ok” to go to the Application summary page
- STEP 8: Click on “edit” to start completing your online application
- STEP 9: Complete Applicant details from the Application page “Step 1 to 12” starting with “Personal Information” and click “go”. as shown below:
CONTINUE
- Step 1: Complete the applicant’s personal information and click “next” to continue. Please note, the information is SAVED when you click on “next”
- Step 2: Select the “First Choice” and “Second Choice” study. See the three screens below to select your choice of study. Click “Next” after selecting “First choice” and “Second choice” study
- Step 3: Enter Applicant “Contact Details” and click on “next” to continue
- Step 4: Enter Applicant “Demographic Details” and click “Next” to continue
- Step 5: Enter Applicant “General Details” and click “Next” to continue
- Step 6: Enter Applicant “Emergency Contacts” details and click “next” to continue
- Step 7: Enter Applicant “Tertiary “Education” details only if you have studied at other Universities and click “next” to continue.
- Step 8: Enter Applicant “Sport Accomplishments” and click “Next” to continue
- Step 9: Enter Applicant’s “Secondary Education” details and click “next” to continue
- Step 10: “Documentation” – uploading supporting documents (ID and Grade 11 or 12 results). Senior students upload their academic records, degrees, etc.
- Step 11: “Declaration” – tick the box and click “next” to continue
- Step 12: “Payment” – select the method of payment. Select your payment method and click “verify the application.
