Is UWC Online Application Open For 2025-2026

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is pleased to announce that online applications for undergraduate and postgraduate studies for the 2025-2026 academic year are now open. Starting May 13, 2024, prospective students can submit their applications through the UWC online application portal.

We encourage all interested students with good academic standing and who meet the program’s entry requirements to apply.

UWC Application Date for 2025-2026 admissions

University of the Western Cape (UWC) Admissions for 2025-2026. The application period for the 2025-2026 academic year at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) is open from May 13, 2024, to September 30, 2024. We encourage you to submit your application as soon as possible. The application portal will close on September 30, 2024, and late applications will not be accepted.

Be sure to submit your application by the deadline to ensure your eligibility for admission for the 2025-2026 academic year.

UWC Online Application Conditions and Requirements

No student may be enrolled in a UWC program unless he or she has completed the online application/manual process and entry requirements for the academic year 2025-2026. The prospectus contains the complete set of admission requirements, as well as all of the courses and statutory conditions.

Apply to UWC First Time for 2025-2026

Prospective students applying to UWC for the first time must either log in to the application at https://student.uwc.ac.za/ and complete the online application form or download the hard copy from the official website and fill it out with a black pen. It is not permitted to use both the hard copy and the online portal simultaneously. You may only submit one application form per academic year.

It is the policy of the University of the Western Cape (UWC) to use English as the primary language of teaching, instruction, communication and documentation.

UWC Online 2025-2026 Application Steps

Step 1; Log in to the application portal

  • Visit the institution’s website at “https://www.uwc.ac.za/apply-now.”
  • Select the “Apply now” option to proceed to the application portal
  • Prior to moving forward, read the instructions thoroughly.

Step 2: Select and choose your field of study

  • Select a program. Look at the entry requirements before you decide. You can download the prospectus of UWC.
  • When applying, the application system will also indicate if you meet the minimum requirements for a programme or not based on the results you have entered.
  • If you do not meet the minimum requirements for a programme and are still awaiting final results you may continue to select the programme. A decision will only be made on your final results

Step 3: Complete the online form

  • Complete the needed information, including the application year, and indicate your qualification.
  • Complete your online application by completing all fields.

Step 4: Upload all the supporting documents and Submit them for Review

  • Upload the critical documents. To upload essential application documents, log in with your Application Number. If you are a current student who needs to upload a copy of your ID document, you must log in using your Student Number.
  • Click on “submit” to submit your application for review.

Step 5: Pay the application fee for the academic year 2025-2026 to UWC

  • Please keep in mind that there is NO APPLICATION FEE. UWC does not charge an application or administrative fee and does not expect any applicant to pay anything in the name of an application fee.

UWC Application Form 2025-2026

All University of the Western Cape (UWC) campuses have application forms available. There is no charge to pick up an application form, and this is an application form, not a registration form.

What Documents are Needed to Apply to the University of the Western Cape (UWC)

In order for your application to be considered complete all required documents must be submitted as required:

Transfer Applicants

  • Certified copy of your NSC Certificate or Senior Certificate
  • Certified copy of your Identification document
  • Certified Certificate of good conduct from your current/previous institution
  • Certified Official Academic Transcript
  • Module content / Yearbook descriptor from your institution for all modules completed
  • Certified Degree certificate (if applicable)

Post-Matric Learners       

If you have written the NSC examination already, you need to submit the following:

  • Certified copy of your NSC certificate or Senior Certificate
  • Certified copy of your identification document
  • Proof of any studies with academic records, if applicable, you may have completed
  • If applicable, proof that you are currently improving your NSC results
  • In an affidavit a brief description of activities post-matric/NSC

International Students 

  • You need to submit your final school results to Universities South Africa (USAf) for an evaluation
  • Application for Exemption is to be done with Universities South Africa (USAf) formerly Higher Education South Africa (HESA).
  • UWC unfortunately will not be able to respond to your application until you submit a confirmation letter issued by USAf stating that you qualify to study at a South African University.
  • Certified copy of your passport

UWC 2025-2026 Undergraduate Admissions

In order to study at the University of the Western Cape candidates need to meet the following criteria:

  • The National Senior Certificate (NSC) required for Degree, Diploma or Higher Certificate study, as appropriate
  • A minimum number of points is calculated on the university’s points system
  • A pass at the required level in each of the subjects specified for the programme into which the candidate seeks admission
