Admission Dates

Application Fee for 2027

Wits University requires a non-refundable application fee before processing applications. South African applicants pay R100, while international applicants pay R700. Proof of payment must be submitted with the application, and payment must be made before the application deadline.

The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) accepts application fee payments in three ways:

Cash: Payments can be made directly at the Cashiers’ Office of your preferred Wits campus.
Bank deposit: Deposits can be made to the designated University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) bank account. Information regarding the bank account details can be found on the official Wits website.
Credit card: Payments can also be made using a credit card.

Already Matriculated:

Upload certified copies of all your matric certificates/foreign school leaving certificates.

Other Tertiary Institutions:

Upload a certified copy of official academic records for ALL tertiary registrations, inclusive of a statement/certificate of good conduct, stamped by the institution’s registrar

Application Steps

All new and returning applicants must submit their applications to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) by following the application guidelines outlined below.

Go to www.wits.ac.za, the official WITS website.
Click on the STUDY@WITS icon.
Select “Apply Online.”
Create an account by providing your ID and password.
Log in to the application portal using your ID number.
Read and accept the rules and regulations.
Select your qualification from the drop-down menu or type it in to view available programs.
Save and continue after selecting your course.
Complete all required fields in the application form.
Accept the rules once again.
Click on Submit to finalize your application.
Upload all required supporting documents.
Pay the application fee and upload proof of payment.
WITS will send an email confirmation upon receiving your application.
Your acknowledgment letter will contain a student number and the contact details of an Admissions Consultant for any queries

WITS Admission Requirements for 2027

The University has a specific number of places for first year undergraduates, approved by the Department of Higher Education and Training.
