Is WSU Online Application Open For 2026

Applications for the 2026 academic year at Walter Sisulu University are now open for both local and international students, offering a range of undergraduate and postgraduate programs through an easy-to-use online portal.

The application window is open until October 2025, with deadlines varying by citizenship and program. Early application is recommended to secure a place, as spots in some programs may be limited.

Important Information:

• Walter Sisulu University (WSU) only accepts applications online. There is no physical application process.
• Applying to WSU is completely free. You do not need to pay any application fees.
• Beware of scams! No one representing WSU will ever ask you to pay an application fee. If someone contacts you requesting payment for an application, it is a scam.
• For clarity, there is NO application fee at WSU.

Required documents For Online Application at Walter Sisulu University for 2026

The following documents must be ready at the time of application and submission

• Certified copy of Grade 11 Term Four results.
• Certified copy of Grade 12 Term Two and/or Term Three results.
• Certified copy of Statement of Symbols/Senior Certificate/ National Senior Certificate/ NCV/N3 or equivalent qualification.
• For postgraduate studies, a certified copy of the relevant preceding degree certificate and academic transcript (e.g. first degree for Honours studies, Honours degree or equivalent for Master’s studies, and Master’s degree for doctoral studies).
• If applicable, a certified copy of the Marriage Certificate/ Decree of Divorce (for different or change of names).
• Conditional exemption applicants must submit forms in person with all the required documents.
• If applicable, proof of current registration with the relevant Association/Council e.g. Nursing Council.
• An academic record and certificate of good conduct if previously registered at a Higher Education Institution.
• Proof of payment of application fees.

Step 1:

• Click on the study with us tab

Step 2:

• Select the application package.

Step 3:

• Complete the application by following the instructions.

Step 4:

• Confirmation of receipt of the application is issued automatically once the process is completed.

Step 5:

• All relevant documents must be uploaded

WSU Admission Requirements for 2026

The number of slots available for a program heavily influences the selection. Meeting the admission requirement, on the other hand, is an important factor in the selection criteria. The most qualified applicants are chosen for the various programs. The requirements for degrees, diplomas, and certificates are listed below:

Undergraduate Requirements

• The general requirement for admission to study for a degree qualification is a matriculation exemption certificate or a National Senior Certificate endorsed for degree admission.
• The standard requirement for admission to study a diploma or certificate qualification is a school leaving certificate with a minimum aggregate symbol E-S, or National Senior Certificate endorsed for diploma/certificate admission.
• All students will be required to satisfy any additional criteria prescribed by Senate and/or the Faculties concerned.

Postgraduate Requirements

• To study for a postgraduate degree qualification, the general requirement for admission is possession of a preceding degree, (e.g. first degree for Honours studies, Honours degree or equivalent for Master’s studies, and Master’s degree for Doctoral studies).
• The preceding degree must have been passed at an acceptable level
