North-West University 2027 Applications: Online Application Guide
North-West University (NWU) is now accepting applications for the 2027 academic year from qualified applicants who wish to enrol in its undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. The application process is officially open, giving prospective students the chance to apply and begin their academic journey at NWU.
Interested applicants are encouraged to start their online applications as soon as possible to avoid missing the opportunity. Make sure you complete and submit your application before the closing date to ensure it is considered for admission to North-West University.

Documents Needed for the Application Process
Prepare the following documents:
- Results from grades 12 and 11 (final results only) Alternatively, if you have previously passed matric, a copy of your matric certificate.
- A photocopy of your ID
- A copy of your transcripts (if applicable).
- Applicants who are currently enhancing their grade 12 results will be evaluated only after the NWU receives the improved results.
- Applicants who pursue the Cambridge, GED, or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may be eligible for an exemption due to older age or post-school qualifications, must present a USAF exemption certificate.
- Completed undertaking
- Additional documents for international prospective students:
- A copy of relevant results
- A copy of your passport
Recommendations for online applications

How to Apply to the North-West University

Log in to the application portal
- For online applications, visit the application portal at www.nwu.ac.za
- Choosing a New application.
Register your Profile
- Go to create a new student number. Complete the boxes and enter a new student number.
- Use your student number along with the PIN number you made to log in.
Complete the online form
- Complete all fields with exact and accurate data.
- Do not skip any required field
Upload all the supporting documents
- Upload any necessary supporting documents in the appropriate format.
- Upload them one after the other
Pay the Necessary application fee
- Settle the application fee if you are an international student
Submit them for Review
- Application submission is made by clicking the submit button
- Hit the submit button after completing the online form
Admission Requirements for North-West University (NWU)
To qualify for NWU 2026 admission, you must have obtained a National Senior Certificate (NSC) or an International Secondary Certificate (ISC) issued by Umalusi, confirming eligibility for a bachelor’s degree.
- A minimum achievement of 50% in at least four NSC 20-credit subjects is required.
- A good APS score point is required
- A minimum of 50% in the language of learning and teaching
