When NSFAS is Opening For 2025 Applications

The National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) 2025 applications are open from September 20, 2024, to January 31, 2025, and those who applied for 2024 but didn’t study need to apply again for 2025. National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will not accept late applications and so it is imperative to complete the application form, scan, and upload all supporting documents on or before the closing date

Documents You Need to Apply For NSFAS Funding

It is very important that you have all documents ready before starting the application. Note that NSFAS does not require the same documents for all applicants. All copies must be certified at the police station.

Documents are usually needed if you apply using your biological parents. Mother or father.

• Your Certified ID copy
• Your Parent Certified ID copy
• Proof of income ( Payslip or Grant confirmation letter obtained from SASSA) you must have something to provide if you want your application to be approved faster or same time. We don’t recommend Boxer or Shoprite slips as they delay the approval of your application.

If you applied with Guardian or Grandparents,  especially if surnames are different.

• They will need all the documents mentioned in point 3 above
• You will need a letter confirming that you’re a legal Guardian of the applicant, they call it a court order obtained from a court or social workers

Those learners earning social grants, qualify automatically for NSFAS and are usually approved same time if all documents are in order.

What NSFAS Will Require

National Student Financial Aid Scheme (NSFAS) will need to know which university or College you applied for admission to. College Applications usually open just after December results are released.

How to upload supporting documents

Another critical issue is how to upload the necessary documents. Read the following instructions regarding the supporting documents:

• All the supporting documents must be certified
• The certification must not be more than 90 days at the time of the application
• Notarized copies are also allowed
• These documents must be scanned into PDF, JPG, or GIF.
• The documents must be saved individually and the same when uploading
• Each File must not exceed 572KB
