NWU 2027 Admission Dates
The 2027 admission and application cycle generally runs from 1 April to 31 August 2026, depending on the programme. You are required to complete your application and submit all necessary documents before the deadline, as access to the portal will be denied once it closes on 31 August 2026.

Requirements for Your Application
To successfully submit your online application, make sure you have the following:
- Stable internet connection
- Active personal email address
- Certified and scanned copies of your academic transcripts or certificates
- Valid identification number
- Mobile phone number
Important: NWU does not require Grade 12 March examination results when applying.
Application Materials Required
The online system will prompt you to upload the following documents:
- Results from grades 12 and 11 (final results only) Alternatively, if you have previously passed matric, a copy of your matric certificate.
- A photocopy of your ID
- A copy of your transcripts (if applicable).
- Applicants who are currently enhancing their grade 12 results will be evaluated only after the NWU receives the improved results.
- Applicants who pursue the Cambridge, GED, or any other non-NSC curriculum, or who may be eligible for an exemption due to older age or post-school qualifications, must present a USAF exemption certificate.
- Completed undertaking
- Additional documents for international prospective students:
- A copy of relevant results
- A copy of your passport

International students: Online applications come with a fee of R550, which must be paid by all prospective international applicants.

Domestic students: All applications from South African students must be submitted online and are completely free of charge.
Important Note:
- The application fee is non-refundable and must be paid by the application deadline. Late payments will be considered for late admissions and will not be considered for the 2027 academic year.
Missing any required documents is a common reason for application rejection. Please ensure you have everything listed before submitting your application.

How to Apply Online at the North-West University for 2027
Follow the steps below to complete your NWU 2027 application form online;
- Visit www.nwu.ac.za
- Click on Apply Online to start your online application.
- Select “New Application”
- Read and accept the application rules by selecting [I Accept]
- Generate a student number by filling in the required details.
- Use your newly created student number and PIN to access your application.
- Complete the Form – Ensure all fields are accurately filled out.
- Do not leave any mandatory section blank.
- Upload Documents – Submit all required supporting documents in the specified format, uploading them one at a time.
- Pay the Application Fee – International applicants must settle the non-refundable application fee before submission.
