NWU 2027 Undergraduate Admissions: Date and How to Apply
Are you planning to enrol in an undergraduate programme at North-West University (NWU)? We are pleased to inform you that the 2027 application cycle is now open. NWU is currently accepting applications from new students for its undergraduate programmes.
When to Apply
Applications open on 1 April 2026 and close on 31 August 2026. You must complete, upload, and submit your fully completed application form, together with all required supporting documents, before the closing date.

How to Apply Online
Follow the steps below to complete your NWU undergraduate application form
Create your application profile
- Go to the NWU online application portal and create your profile using your email address. Make sure your details match your ID document.
Check your email for login details
- You will receive a temporary password via email. Log in and change your password if you wish.
Get oriented
- Log in to the portal, read the instructions carefully, and click “Apply Now” to begin your application.
Choose your study options
- Select whether you want to study full-time or part-time, on-campus or distance learning. You may choose up to two study options and your preferred campus.
Fill in personal details
- Complete all required personal information exactly as it appears on your ID. Grant permission for NWU to process your information according to the POPI Act.
Provide previous education details
- On the “Previous Education” section, select the highest grade you have completed.
- If you are currently in Grade 12, use your Grade 11 results.
Indicate funding and residence options
- State how you plan to fund your studies and indicate if you want to apply for residence (hostel accommodation).
Upload required documents
Upload certified/scanned copies of:
- Your ID
- Academic results
Ensure documents are clear and in the correct format (PDF or JPEG).
Submit your application
- Review all information carefully, then click “Submit.”
- Keep your application number safe for future reference.
Track your application
- Regularly check your email and the application portal for updates. If successful, you will receive a conditional offer.
Admission Requirements
- Meeting the minimum admission requirements for your chosen/intended programme of study does not guarantee admission, as limited spaces are available in each programme.
- You must however meet all the minimum admission requirements for the programme you intend to study before you will be considered for admission.
- Before you apply, download the NWU prospectus and read about the statutory and university requirements of your preferred course.
- Owing to specific capacity constraints, the University reserves the right to select candidates for admission to certain fields of study. This means that prospective students who comply with the minimum requirements will not automatically be admitted to the courses in question.
- Because of the capacity limitations and the high demand from students for admission to particular fields of study, students will be selected on the basis of their Grade 12 results for admission to these fields
