SMU 2027 Undergraduate Applications Now Open

The wait is over! The early admissions application window for undergraduate studies at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) for 2027 officially opens on 1 April 2026.

SMU is now accepting applications from qualified and motivated students who wish to pursue undergraduate programmes. Applicants are encouraged to complete and submit their applications before the closing date to ensure consideration

SMU 2027 Application Date (Undergraduate Qualifications)

The Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU) 2027 undergraduate application window will officially close on 31 July 2026. This applies to all undergraduate qualifications, including:

Advanced Diploma
Bachelor’s Degree

Does SMU Charge an Application Fee?

Yes! When applying to study at Sefako Makgatho Health Sciences University (SMU), applicants are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of R300. The fee can be paid via SMU’s bank account or online payment methods.

How Do I Apply Online at SMU?

To apply online, you need:

Access to the internet and a valid email address;
To complete the application accurately online;
To specify the names of your first and second choice degrees (if applicable);
Pay the non-refundable application fee
Upload the following the documents:
- Certified copy of your ID or Birth Certificate.
- Certified copy of final Grade 11 results or National Senior Certificate (NSC)/Matric Certificate (if you have completed Grade 12/Matric).
- Official academic record(s) from previous universities attended, including SMU (if applicable).
- Proof of payment for application

Admission Requirements for the Sefako Makgatho University

To qualify for admission into a bachelor’s degree, diploma, or higher certificate programme at the Sefako Makgatho University, applicants must meet the following criteria:

An applicant must have obtained (a) an NSC with a Bachelor endorsement
Achieve an Admission Point Score (APS) of at least 37.
Obtain a good pass in the following subjects:
- English
- Life Sciences
- Physical Science
- Mathematics
- Life Orientation
