SUN Admission Requirements For 2026 Intake

Each program at Stellenbosch University has specific entry requirements. To be considered for selection into a degree program, applicants must meet the following basic criteria:

  • A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or Independent Examinations Board (IEB) school-leaving certificate as certified by Umalusi with admission to bachelor’s degree studies.
  • A university exemption certificate issued by the South African Matriculation Board to students with other school qualifications

In addition to the above, you must satisfy the following requirements:

  • 30% for a South African Language of Learning and Teaching (English or Afrikaans) and
  • An achievement rating of 4 (50% – 59%) in four 20-credit subjects
  • Writing of the National Benchmark Tests (NBTs) required if School of Tomorrow applicant

Documents Required for SUN 2026 Applications

All prospective students are required by the Stellenbosch University to submit the following documents as part of the application process:

South African students

  • Proof of payment for the application fee
  • A completed student support form (Disability Applicant)
  • Final grade 11 assessment results as per the Department of Education guidelines.
  • National Senior Certificate (NSC) or IEB/Statement of symbols of final school results

Foreign Students

  • Proof of permanent residency, refugee or asylum-seeking status
  • Grade 11 results (pre-final) and final-year school subjects with levels
  • Final school results from the International Curriculum (Cambridge International, International Baccalaureate, etc.), including School of Tomorrow.
  • Additional subject and rewrite results.

SU Accommodation Applications 2026 

Stellenbosch University provides campus housing and residence facilities to new students upon successful course registration. Applications must be submitted online and not directly at the residences.

Residence applications are part of the general admission process at Stellenbosch University (SU). During the application, you will need to indicate whether or not you require accommodation.

The application deadline for residence placement is 31 July 2025. Late applications will not be considered.
