University of Fort Hare has officially opened applications for the 2026 academic year. Both undergraduate and postgraduate applicants must submit their applications before the deadline, as late submissions will only be considered if space is still available.
The online application process begins on June 1, 2025, with closing dates varying by program. Admission for first-year undergraduate students is highly competitive, with limited spots available. Selection is based on academic performance, available spaces, and the timing of application submissions—applying early is strongly advised.

Steps to Apply to University of Fort Hare (UFH) 2026
Follow the steps below to complete the University of Fort Hare 2026 applications before the deadline:
- Go to UFH Official website at ufh.ac.za
- Click on Apply Now
- Select “NO” for the first two questions, then enter your personal details (contact, email, and address).
- Review and accept the terms and conditions.
- Check your email for your student number and temporary PIN (which can be changed).
- Log in using your student number and PIN.
- Download the prospectus to check academic requirements.
- Choose a program that fits your qualifications. (Select at least 3 study courses)
- Pay the application fee online or offline and upload the payment receipt.
- Complete all required fields.
- Scan and upload required documents (each file must be under 5MB and in supported formats).
- Save each document before proceeding to avoid data loss.

Admission Requirements for UFH 2026
For admission to the University of Fort Hare (UFH), prospective applicants must have a National Senior Certificate (NSC) with the necessary subject combinations and achievement levels.
The minimum requirements for entering a Bachelor’s degree at UFH are:
- An achievement rating of 4 (50–59%) or higher in English Home Language or English First Additional Language.
- An achievement rating of 4 (50–59%) or higher in four subjects, plus at least a rating of 2 (30–39%) in one subject.
- An achievement rating of 4 (50–59%) or higher in Life Orientation.
To study at the University of For Hare, the minimum Admission Point Score (APS) needed is 26 points or higher, depending on the program (Calculate your APS).
