University of Johannesburg has officially opened applications for the 2026 academic year. The application period runs from April 1, 2025, to October 31, 2025, for available courses. Prospective students are required to submit their applications along with proof of payment for the mandatory application fee.

The University of Johannesburg (UJ) offers free online applications, meaning prospective students can apply without paying any fees when submitting their forms electronically.
However, those opting for manual (hard copy) applications must pay a non-refundable application fee and include a photocopy of the payment receipt with their submission. The university does not require the original receipt, only a copy.
What is the Application Fee at UJ
Prospective applicants for the academic year 2026 must pay a non-refundable application fee of R 200, which applies to both South African and foreign citizens. Manual Applicants ONLY.

Students with a valid UJ Student Number, using electronic banking
The new UJ FNB Tuition Fee account is available as a pre-defined beneficiary on the Electronic platforms of all the major banks, including Capitec Bank. Search for the predefined beneficiaries on your own electronic banking platform, Select each Major Banks below:
Students with a valid UJ Student Number, using any FNB Branch
Students with a valid UJ Student Number, using any FNB Cash accepting ATM.
