Universities Open For 2025 Late Applications
Welcome to the 2025 online application page for South African universities. By discovering this website, you have begun the application process for any university that is still accepting applications for 2025. The deadline for all undergraduate and graduate applications is the end of November 2024. This page explains how to apply for undergraduate degrees at any of these universities before the deadlines. Prospective students who were unable to apply to these universities due to time constraints may still apply during this open session.
Relevant Late Application Dates – 2025
If you wish to take advantage of this last-minute application opportunity, you must carefully review each university’s application deadlines. A few select universities are accepting late applications for 2025, which will run from Friday, November 1 until Saturday, November 30, 2024. Apply to any of the universities listed in this article by the deadline. Please wait three weeks after submitting your application before reviewing its status. If you meet all of the prerequisites and there is space in the program you applied for, you will receive an offer letter.
Minimum Requirements to Qualify for Late Applications
To apply to any of the universities for the 2025 academic year, you must;
- Obtain at least 40% of Home Language
- Obtain at least 50% for FOUR other subjects excluding Life Orientation
- Obtain at least 30% for ONE other subject
- Obtain at least 30% in Language of Learning and Teaching (LOLT) of the Higher Education Institution where you intend to study
- Pass at least 6 out of 7 subjects
Application Documents Required For Late Applications
If you are applying to any of the universities listed in this post, you must prepare the necessary documents below.
Post-Matric Learners
- If you have written the NSC examination already, you need to submit the following:
- Certified copy of your NSC certificate or Senior Certificate
- Certified copy of your identification document
- Proof of any studies with academic records, if applicable, you may have completed
- If applicable, proof that you are currently improving your NSC results
- In an affidavit a brief description of activities post-matric/NSC
- Applicants who are re-writing Grade 12 subjects, applications will be processed on the current Grade 12 results. If Grade 12 has been written more than once then your combined results must be submitted with your application.
Transfer Students
If you are applying from another institution of higher learning you need to submit certified copies of the following:
- NSC Certificate or Senior Certificate
- Identification document
- Certificate of good conduct from your institution
- Official Academic Transcript
- Module content / Yearbook descriptor from your institution for all modules completed
- Degree certificate (if applicable)
- Students applying for readmission to UWC
- If you have studied at UWC previously and have taken a break from study, you need to provide a letter of motivation to be considered for readmission to your respective faculty
International Students
- You need to submit your final school results to Universities South Africa (USAf) for an evaluation
- Certified copy of your passport
Post Graduate students
- Certified copy of identification document
- Certified copy of Passport (International Applicants only)
- Official Academic Transcripts/record of results (All applicants)
- Certified copies of degree certificates (All applicants)
- SAQA Evaluation Certificate (International Applicants only)
- Short Curriculum Vitae (CV) (All applicants)
- One-page letter of motivation (All applicants)
- Short research intention (Master and Doctoral applicants only)
Universities will not respond to applications without the required documentation and fees submitted by the deadline.
Application Fees
Regrettably, any universities now accepting late applications for 2025 charge a nonrefundable application fee. Applicants must ensure that their application fee payment is received by the institution on or before the closing date.
Although the costs vary per university, late applications typically incur the following charges.
- South Africa: R210
- International SADC and rest of Africa R490
- Countries Outside Africa $530

- Durban University of Technology: November 30, 2024
- Mangosuthu University of Technology(MUT): November 30, 2024
- University of Zululand: November 30, 2024
Simplified Late Online Application Process:
All applicants are to follow the steps below to apply for late applications for the 2025 academic intake.
- Visit the university of your choice. Ensure they are open for 2025 late applications
- Pay the application fee as instructed.
- Read and agree to the declaration document (POPI Act).
- Enter your biographical information.
- Provide contact details for your next of kin and account contact person.
- Choose your qualification level (Diploma, Advanced Diploma, etc.).
- Enter your results details accurately.
- Choose your first and second choice courses.
- Review all information and accept the application rules.
- Upload all required documents as listed in this article.
- Complete the process and receive your student number.
- Exit the application page.
- Check your email for the application offer steps.
- Log in with your student number and PIN.
- Accept or reject the offer within the expiry date
- Save your decision.
- Log out and check your application status on the VUT website.
CAO Late Applications
CAO is now accepting late applications for 2025. South African first-time undergraduate applicants must submit their applications to any KwaZulu Natal university via CAO at www.cao.ac.za before the deadline.
