Prospective students can apply online between May and October 2026 to start or continue their studies at CPUT.

The application season has officially begun, and aspiring candidates now have the chance to embark on a life-changing academic journey. The online application portal will be open from May 13, 2026, to October 31, 2026, giving you the opportunity to secure a place in your desired programme at CPUT.

  • Applications Open: Wednesday, May 13, 2026
  • Closing Date for Most Programs: October 31, 2026. Application deadlines for the 2027 intake are approaching! Apply as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.
  • Late Applications for Returning Students: January 15-19, 2027
  • Full Research Master’s and Doctoral Studies Applications Close: March 15, 2027

Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) Application Fee Requirements

There is a non-refundable R100 application fee. This only applies if you apply manually. You must pay the money, scan the proof of payment, and attach a copy of it to your applications for submission.

  • Minimum APS score: Varies depending on the program you choose. Refer to the CPUT Undergraduate Prospectus for specific requirements. Generally, a score of 30 or higher is recommended for most programs.
  • You must have passed NSC with a D symbol or higher in relevant subjects. Specific subject requirements vary by program.
  • Mathematics and English proficiency: A strong foundation in these subjects is crucial for success in most undergraduate programs.

  • APS 25-29: Considered borderline for most programs. You may be required to submit additional documentation or take an entrance exam.

CPUT Undergraduate Step-by-Step Application Procedure:

Remember, the application window closes in October 2027, so follow the steps below to apply as soon as possible.

Step 1: Choose your program

  • Download the prospectus.
  • Check all the available courses open for applications.
  • Read the requirements and ensure that you meet them.

Step 2: Gather your documents Make sure you have certified copies of the following required documents:

  • Matric certificate and NSC results, or equivalent qualifications.
  • ID document.
  • Residential address.
  • An active cell phone number.
  • An email address.

Step 3: Apply online

  • Visit the CPUT online application portal at cput.ac.za.
  • Select the mode of application (Online or Manual).
  • Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the online form.
  • Upload all the required documents.
  • Ensure all required fields are completed.
  • Click the “Submit” button to send in your form.

Step 4: Pay the application fee

  • The online application is free.
  • Manual applicants must pay a fee of R100.

Step 5: Track your application

  • After the closing date, visit the dashboard to check your status.
  • This step is optional.

Step 6: Accept your offer (if applicable)

  • If you are offered admission, you will need to accept the offer and pay the registration fee to secure your place.

Step 7: Register for your courses

  • Only approved students will be given a timeframe to register for the semester.
  • Registration will be done online but can also be done on CPUT campuses.
  • Registration will be open to both new and returning students in January 2027
