Opening and Closing Dates for WITS 2026 Admission

WITS Admission Requirements For 2026 Intake

Each course at Wits has its own specific entry requirements. To assist you, below are the minimum entry requirements for admission into Degree, Diploma and Higher certificate

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate with a Bachelor’s Degree endorsement.
  • Diploma: Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate with a Diploma endorsement.
  • Higher Certificate: Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate with a Higher Certificate endorsement.

In addition to the above, you must satisfy the following requirements:

  • English must be taken either as Home Language or First Additional Language
  • Mathematical Literacy will be considered for LLB, Education and Humanities
  • You must have a good Admission Points Score (APS)

Documents Required for WITS 2026 Applications

All prospective students are required by University of the Witwatersrand to submit the following documents as part of the application process:

  • Current Matriculants: Grade 11 final grades (upload only)
  • Already Matriculated: Certified copies of matric certificates/foreign school leaving certificates
  • From other institutions: Certified copies of official academic records and a statement/certificate of good conduct stamped by the registrar

WITS 2026 Application Steps

Follow the guidelines and steps below to apply to WITS for admission 2026

  • Use Mozilla Firefox or Chrome
  • Ensure you have stable internet
  • Go to www.wits.ac.za.
  • Find and select the “STUDY@WITS” section.
  • Choose the option to apply online.
  • Provide your ID and password to register.
  • Use your ID number to access the portal.
  • Review and agree to the terms and conditions.
  • Choose your qualification from the drop-down menu or type it in.
  • After selecting your course, click “Save and Continue.”
  • Fill out all required fields in the form.
  • Agree to the rules once more.
  • Finalize your application submission.
  • Provide all necessary documents as required.
  • Submit the fee and upload proof of payment.
  • WITS will send an email confirming receipt of your application.

WITS Accommodation Applications 2026 

Campus Housing and Residence Life (CHRL), a division of Student Affairs, is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the University’s residence programmes. Applications are done online and not directly at the residences.

How to Apply for WITS Accommodation 2026

If you wish to apply for residence, please take note of the following:

  • The closing date for all applications is 30 September 2025. Late applications will not be accepted due to limited space.
  • Before you are admitted to a residence, you will be required to pay R5000 of your residence fees for the year.
  • NSFAS students must have a provisional or firm acceptance before being admitted into a residence.
  • Bursary students must provide proof of their bursary upon registration.
  • To apply for residence, you must submit a separate application form
