The University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) sets application deadlines to ensure smooth processing and timely selection for admission. All applications, including supporting documents, must be submitted by the relevant deadline:
- June 30, 2024: Faculty of Health Sciences (all programs), Bachelor of Architectural Studies, Bachelor of Audiology, Bachelor of Speech-Language Pathology, and Bachelor of Arts in Film and Television.
- September 30, 2024: All other Wits University programs.
Late applications will not be accepted.

How to Apply to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits) Online for Admission in 2025
Prospective applicants must follow the steps outlined below to submit an application form. A step must not be skipped for any reason. To apply to the University of the Witwatersrand (Wits), you must complete all of the steps outlined below:
Log in to the Application Portal
- Recommendation for a Browser (Mozilla Firefox and Chrome)
- Go to www.wits.ac.za/applications/ if you have a good internet connection.
Programme Selection
- Choose your programs wisely (Maximum of 3 programmes)
- If you apply to two programs in the same Faculty, it is advised that you apply to one program in a less restricted faculty.
- Be flexible, especially if you’re applying to programs in Faculties such as Health Sciences or Engineering.
- Do not enter the program duration because the system will recognize the year you are applying for.
Effect the application fee payment
- A non-refundable application fee of R100 is required for South African citizens and R700 for foreign citizens.
Upload the supporting documents
- Gather your documents or upload further/ outstanding documents. These Documents must be in the format required by the university such as PDF AND TIF
Submit the Online forms
- You will receive an email from the University confirming receipt of your application.
- The acknowledgement letter will include a personal number (which will become your student number) as well as a contact person to whom you should direct any questions.
