WSU Admission Requirements For 2026 Intake

Each faculty at Walter Sisulu University has its own specific entry requirements. To be considered for selection into degree, diploma, and certificate programs, applicants must meet the following general criteria:

  • Higher Certificate: National Senior Certificate with at least 30% in the language of instruction, certified by Umalusi. Additional requirements may apply.
  • Diploma: National Senior Certificate with at least 30% in the language of instruction, and a rating of 3 (40-49%) in 4 recognized subjects (excluding life orientation). Additional requirements may apply.
  • Bachelor’s Degree: National Senior Certificate with at least 30% in the language of instruction, and a rating of 4 (50-59%) in 4 recognized subjects (excluding life orientation). Additional requirements may apply.
  • International Students: Applications considered per HESA guidelines, with possible submission to SAQA for benchmarking. Assistance available through WSU’s international office.

  • Enter your academic history and previous academic results accurately.

  • After submitting your application, you will be assigned a student number.

All initial applications for admission to Walter Sisulu University are free of charge for all applicants.

WSU Accommodation Applications 2026 

Walter Sisulu University provides campus housing and residence facilities to new students upon successful course registration. Applications must be submitted online and not directly at the residences.

All first-year applicants seeking accommodation for the 2026 academic year must apply through Walter Sisulu University at www.wsu.ac.za. Make sure to indicate your accommodation preference in the appropriate section of the application form. Accommodation spaces will be allocated to applicants who apply via the WSU portal and have received a conditional or firm admission offer for the 2026 academic year.
