The management of the Durban University of Technology (DUT) has announced that applications for the 2027 academic year will open in March 2026. The university welcomes prospective students who wish to pursue undergraduate or postgraduate qualifications, regardless of nationality or educational background, provided they meet the admission requirements.

Applicants are encouraged to submit their applications early, as placement is limited and programmes may reach capacity before the closing date.

Please note that DUT will only consider applicants who meet all minimum entry requirements and who have successfully submitted an online application through the Central Applications Office (CAO). DUT 2027 Application Timelines

The Durban University of Technology 2027 application period runs from 1 March to 30 September 2026. During this time, all faculties will be accepting applications from prospective students interested in their respective programmes.

Please note that applications submitted after the official closing date will incur an additional late application fee for the 2027 academic year. Applicants are strongly advised to ensure that all required supporting documents are submitted to the Central Applications Office (CAO) on or before the deadline to avoid delays or penalties.

What You Need to Apply for Admission at the Durban University of Technology for 2027

The following documents will be required when completing the DUT 2027 application form:

  1. Certified copies of your identity document
  2. Final Grade 11 and Grade 12 certificates (or June/Trial report if you have not yet completed your final exams)
  3. For students transferring from other universities, an original academic record and certificate of good conduct must be provided
  4. A valid study permit
  5. Proof of valid medical aid or health insurance coverage
  6. A valid passport
  7. Proof of payment of the application fee

DUT Application Fee For 2027

All applicants submitting their applications to the Durban University of Technology through the Central Applications Office (CAO) portal must pay a non-refundable application fee. The fee is R250 for South African citizens and R300 for international applicants.

Please note that applications received after the official closing date will incur a 100% increase in the application fee, so applicants are strongly encouraged to apply before the deadline.

 Steps to Apply Online for DUT 2027

Durban University of Technology accepts both online and manual applications. To apply online, follow the guidelines below:

  1. Use either Mozilla Firefox or Chrome for the application process.
  2. Make sure you have a stable internet connection.
  3. Select the course you wish to apply for.
  4. Visit the official DUT website at www.dut.ac.za and click on the “Apply” button.
  5. New applicants should submit their applications through the CAO online platform at www.cao.ac.za.
  6. After reviewing all the details, click on “Continue with Application.”
  7. Ensure that both your application and payment are submitted before the deadline.
  8. Have a mobile phone and an active email address on hand to complete the online application.
  9. Fill in all required fields accurately.
  10. Upload certified copies of the necessary documents.
  11. Pay the application fee as instructed.
  12. Your application will be processed once the payment is confirmed.
  13. Click on “Submit Application” to finalize your submission.
  14. You will receive your application status via email or SMS.

Manual Application (Application Form)

You can print a hard copy of the application form from the official website and fill it out by hand with a pen. Application forms and supporting documentation must be submitted to the Admissions Office. You have three options for submitting your application form and supporting documents:

DUT Admission and Entry Requirements for the 2027 Academic Year

For Bachelor’s Degree:

  • National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4.
  • Minimum requirements include:
    • At least 60% in three core subjects, including English.
    • A minimum of 70% in four compulsory vocational subjects.

For Higher Certificate:

  • National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4.
  • A minimum of 50% in English.

For Diploma:

  • National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4.
  • Minimum requirements include:
    • At least 50% in three core subjects, including English.
    • A minimum of 60% in three mandatory vocational subjects
