When can I apply to Nelson Mandela University for 2025

You can apply for admission at Nelson Mandela University from 1st April 2024. This is the official opening and commencement date where all prospective applications will be received for admission processing for the academic year 2025-2026. Admission to Nelson Mandela University will be available beginning April 01, 2024.

What is the application fee for NMU?

Before their application forms can be processed, prospective applicants must pay an R500 non-refundable application fee. All international students must pay an R500 non-refundable application fee. If you do not pay the application fee, your application will be rejected. When you submit your application, you will be prompted to pay the R500 non-refundable application fee. Please complete the payment in order for your application to be considered.

Do you need to apply if you have previously applied and were not accepted?

Applicants must submit a new application for each year that they wish to study, for example, if you applied for the 2023 application intake but were not accepted at Nelson Mandela University, you must submit a new application for the 2024 application intake.

How to submit a manual application to NMU?

All applications must be submitted online only. Regretfully no manual applications will be processed unless otherwise stated in the list of 2025 programmes on the website. You must therefore click here to learn how to apply online for 2024 admissions

Can You apply for more than 1 qualification?

Students can apply online for no more than 3 qualifications in any one year. The first 3 choices received will be processed

What documentation must be submitted online?

No Additional documentation is required to be submitted unless specifically requested by staff from the Faculty in which you applying for:

Proof of payment of your application fee (International applicants only)
Certified copy of your ID document (ID document compulsory for SA citizens – your application cannot be processed without a certified copy of your ID. If you are still waiting for your ID, submit a certified copy of your birth certificate).
Certified copy of ID of parent/guardian/surety (required if you are a dependent, currently at school or have left school recently and do/will not have permanent employment when applying or studying at the university).
Certified copy of your latest school results e.g. Grades 11 final or Grade 12 June or September results or your final school leaving results – No Grade 12 March results.
Official declaration form signed by your parent guardian/surety if you are a dependent, currently at school, studying at a tertiary institution, or have recently left school and do/will not have permanent employment when applying or studying at the university.
Academic record(s) and certificate(s) of conduct from previous institution(s) (if applicable)
Diploma/Degree certificate(s) (if applicable)
Marriage certificate (if applicable)
Certified copy of passport (for international students) / proof of permanent residency (SA ID)
Proof of your current residential / home or postal address if applying for on-campus accommodation.
Completed disability assessment form (if applicable).
Postgraduate application form if you apply for postgraduate studies.

Can you apply online to Nelson Mandela University without an e-mail and/or cell phone number?

Online applications require an email address to send confirmations. If you do not have an email address go to www.gmail.com and register before you start the online application process. Cell phone number is compulsory to ensure students can be reached telephonically should it be required.
