The University of Johannesburg (UJ) is now accepting applications from prospective students interested in applying for undergraduate or graduate degrees for the 2025–2026 academic year. The application and admissions window is currently open. All prospective students interested in studying Business and Economics (CBE), Art, Design and Architecture, Education, Engineering & the Built Environment, Health Sciences, Humanities, Law, Science, and Business-related courses for the academic year 2025–2026, which starts on April 1, 2024, can now apply online at the University of Johannesburg (UJ).
When can I apply to the University of Johannesburg (UJ) for 2024
The University of Johannesburg (UJ) accepts applications for admission from April 1 through October 31, 2024. This is the official date when all prospective applications will be accepted for processing to be admitted for the 2025–2026 academic year. On April 1, 2024, applications for admission to the University of Johannesburg (UJ) will be accepted.

Do you need to apply if you have previously applied and were not accepted?
Applicants must submit a new application for each year that they wish to study, for example, if you applied for the 2024 application intake but were not accepted at the University of Johannesburg (UJ), you must submit a new application for the 2025 application intake.
How to submit a manual application to the University of Johannesburg (UJ)?
All applications must be submitted either online or by hand. Interestingly, for 2025-2026 admissions, the University of Johannesburg (UJ) will accept and process manual applications. Documents can be emailed to ujappdocs@listsrv.uj.ac.za with the provisional reference/student number noted in the subject line of the email. Your application will not be processed unless you provide these, and please keep your original proof of payment slips, especially if you are applying for residency, as this is also required during registration.
Can You apply for more than 1 qualification?
Students can apply online for no more than 2 qualifications in any one year. The first 2 choices received will be processed by the University of Johannesburg (UJ) for 2025-2026 admissions.

What Documents are required at the university of Johannesburg
Below are the documents required for the University of Johannesburg application for 2024-2025
- If you have completed your Grade 12 exams, you must provide a certified copy of your results.
- Certified copy of your Grade 11 (if you are currently in Grade 12) (South African only)
- A certified copy of your native country’s identification document
- A certified copy of your passport number from your home country
- Study Visa in South Africa
- Medical Report
- English Proficiency For Undergraduate programs, proof of IELTS with an overall score of 6 and TOEFL with an average score of 80–104 is required
- Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English).
Can you apply online to the University of Johannesburg (UJ) without an e-mail and/or cell phone number?
To send confirmations, the University of Johannesburg (UJ) online applications require an email address. If you do not already have an email address, go to www.gmail.com and create one before beginning the online application process. A cell phone number is required to ensure that students can be reached by phone if necessary.
How to submit your supporting documents while you are processing your online application
During the online application process, the University of Johannesburg will prompt you to upload documents. Please upload the appropriate document to the appropriate certificate codes. You may apply or submit your application form without providing a copy of your ID or passport.
You must, however, submit them before the deadline. Email the documents to ujappdocs@listsrv.uj.ac.za with the provisional reference/student number in the subject line.

You will receive an email/SMS with information about submitting your online application. Check your junk e-mail folders for any potential e-mail notifications. Within 48 hours, online applicants will be notified of their final or deferred status. Within 5 working days, hardcopy applicants will receive either a final or deferred status.
