Stellenbosch University is now accepting applications for the 2026 academic year. Whether you’re interested in undergraduate or postgraduate studies, this is your opportunity to secure a spot at one of South Africa’s leading institutions. Stellenbosch University 2026 Online Application Dates

The Stellenbosch University application process for the 2026 academic year is now progress

  • Undergraduate applications close on July 31, 2025.
  • Postgraduate applications close on January 31, 2026.

Stellenbosch University Application Form For 2026

  • Please note that applicants are limited to three choices.
  • Some qualifications require applicants to submit additional information as part of their application as outlined on the official website

Completed application forms and accompanying documents must be submitted to the Admissions Office. You can submit your application form and accompanying documents in two ways:

  1. Forms can be hand-delivered to the Central Admissions Office
  2. Forms can also be posted to the Admissions Office

Important note:

  • Faxed and email forms will not be accepted.
  • Never submit a form to anyone claiming to be a representative of SUN. Only forms that are submitted via THE ONLINE PORTAL to the Admissions Office will be accepted.

Stellenbosch University Admission Requirements for university study

A National Senior Certificate (NSC) or  Independent Examinations Board (IEB) school-leaving certificate as certified by Umalusi for bachelor’s degree studies admission.

With the exception of School of Tomorrow matriculants and applicants for programmes in the Faculty of Law, the University does not require National Benchmark Tests (NBTs) for admission to programmes in 2026.

How to Apply 2026 Online at Stellenbosch University 

Please follow the instructions listed below to apply for a course at Stellenbosch University:

Step 1: Log in to the application portal

  • Go to the Stellenbosch University Application website: http://www.sun.ac.za/
  • At the top menu of the page, click on the “Students” tab

Step 2: Select and choose your field of study

  • Select your qualification (YOUR COURSES YOU WANT TO OFFER)
  • Explore your programme option. You may apply for up to three programmes from any faculty.
  • Make sure you meet the requirement for your selected programme.

Step 3: Complete the online form

  • Click on the “Apply” tab. You must apply before the closing date
  • Complete your online application form. You will need an e-mail address and phone number so that SU can contact you
  • As soon as you create your profile, you can follow the system prompts to proceed with your online application immediately.

Step 4: Upload all the supporting documents

  • Upload all the supporting documents
  • Please complete the application carefully and make sure you give SU accurate information.

Step 5: You can finally submit your forms

  • When you have completed the application form and attached all your supporting documents, you are ready to submit your application!
  • You will receive an e-mail that confirms that we have received your application. All the e-mails we send you will also be available on the Applicant Portal.
  • We’ll contact you using the e-mail address and phone number you provided to let you know whether your application has been successful

Step 6: Accept the Offer and Attach the Signed Contract

  • If they make you an offer you must accept it by the deadline, and upload your signed student contract to register as a Matie
  • If you have applied for more than one programme, you may receive more than one offer from us. You may only accept.
