You must be a South African
You must have an aggregate total household income of not more than R350,000 per year.
Students with impairments should not have a combined total family income that is greater than R600,000.
Financial eligibility is automatic for SASSA recipients.
Email and a mobile number are required.
Must be pursuing a bachelor’s degree or diploma at the undergraduate level.
Must be taking a course that has been approved by NSFAS.
NSFAS does not fund short or online courses.

Academic transcript and certificate
A smart card, which must have both sides of the card;
A certified copy of the student’s ID or birth certificate;
A certified copy of the parent(s), guardian(s), or spouse’s ID;
Proof of income
An applicant who has been identified by the Department of Social Development as a vulnerable child must submit a completed and signed Vulnerable Child Declaration form, which must be completed by a social worker.
An applicant who has indicated that s/he has no family member information and/or an incomplete birth certificate must complete the Declaration form
