The Cape Peninsula University of Technology has officially opened for the 2024-2025 academic year and is currently accepting applications from all students and workers interested in enrolling in a course at the university for the January 2024 intake. Applicants should keep in mind, however, that the online application is time-limited, and the earlier one applies, the better the chances of securing an admission spot for the academic year to study. The online application process for the Cape Peninsula University of Technology’s 2024 intake will start on May 16, 2023, for all academic qualifications.

The Cape Peninsula University of Technology Application Dates For 2024-2025

The online application for admission to the Cape Peninsula University of Technology will be available on May 16, 2023, and will close on the dates listed below.

• BE.d Foundation: Intermediate & Senior Phase
• Bachelor in Nursing and Extended
  • 28 July 2023

 

• Diploma Grade R;
• Post Graduate Certificate in Education
• Advanced Diploma in Teaching & Vocational Teaching
  • 28 July 2023

International Applications

• Non-SA citizens
• SA citizens with an international qualification
  • 31 August 2023

 

• South Africa citizens i.e. refugees, individuals with permanent SA residency status
• Undergraduate programmes including Advanced Diploma Programme NOT closing on 31 August 2023
  • 28 September 2023

Although applying early or on time does not guarantee acceptance, doing so as soon as possible may alleviate the stress and frustrations associated with last-minute pressure. The Cape Peninsula University of Technology may accept late applications for 2024, but only after the first pool of application forms has been sorted through and qualified students have been selected for their respective courses. If there are still courses available, CPUT may accept late applications.

There is no application fee payable for online applications

A non-refundable R100 application fee (or R150 late applications fee, should CPUT advertise the availability of space in programmes applied for after the closing application period) must accompany the manual form. Please ensure that you attach the original proof of payment.

CPUT Application Requirements

Your application must include several documents. Only certified copies of the required documents should be attached to your manual application form, not the originals. Document copies can be certified at a police station in your area.

South African Applicant

• copy of the proof of payment of your application fee (online application submission is free of charge).
• A certified copy of the first page of your Identity Document.
• A certified copy of your Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification. If you are currently in Grade 12, please submit your marks obtained in Grade 11.
• Certified copies of the original Academic record and Certificate of Conduct, or certified copies of other certificates/ diplomas/ degrees you obtained previously from any other higher education institution.
• Any other documents specifically required for the programme to which you are applying, as explained in the application form and admission requirements.

Non-South African citizens:

• Certified copies of the following applicable documents (must be less than three (3) months old)
  1. Permanent Residency applicants: Passport and Proof of Permanent Residency/SA ID Document/Card
  2. Refugee/Asylum seeker temporary permit/formal recognition of refugee status in the RSA
  3. Passport
• A certified copy of your school-leaving certificate, together with an English translation.
• A scratch card (for students from the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO).
• Congo-Brazzaville applicants must submit the Liste des Admis au Bac
• Sixth-year Bulletin: Diplom D’Etat and Journal and transcripts of results or Journal or Confirmation of Results from the Embassy (students from Angola, the Democratic Republic of Congo or Cameroon).
• International/Foreign Post-Basic Nursing applicants need to submit a document indicating approval of nursing qualifications from, and certified by, South African Qualification Authority (SAQA), to be provisionally accepted. Full acceptance will only be considered if the applicant also submits proof of temporary registration with the South African Nursing Council (SANC) for two (2) years, in addition to a valid study permit.
• Any other documents specifically required for the programmes to which you are applying

PLEASE NOTE:

Minor applicants, not 18 yet at the time of application are required to submit a Minor Application Declaration, click here to download the form.

Applicants with approved qualifications obtained outside the Republic of South Africa (RSA):

An applicant may qualify for admission based on qualifications obtained outside the RSA, whether they are SA citizens or not.  Each case will be dealt with on an individual basis.

• School leaving certificate should be submitted with the English translation of the certificate
• SAQA Evaluation certificate is mandatory and must be submitted together with your online or paper-based application

SA Citizen currently busy upgrading Grade 12 results (including upgrading at any TVET College)

• Please submit a letter confirming registration for the upgrading of your results

How to Apply Online at CPUT for 2024-2025

To apply for your undergraduate or postgraduate course, please follow the steps below.

Step 1: Qualification

• Select a qualification you want to pursue.

Step 2: Complete the form

• Download the application form and complete it manually or complete the online application form by following the screen instructions
• Completed application forms and accompanying documents must be submitted to the Admissions Office. You can submit your application form and accompanying documents in two ways:
  • Forms can be hand-delivered at the campus where the programme is offered.
  • Forms can also be posted to the Admissions Office at the campus where the programme is offered

Step 3: Upload and Submit the forms

• Gather your documents or upload further/ outstanding documents.

• Submit them online if you completed the online application form.

• Collect a printed form at the Registration and Applications Office on the various campuses.
