How Do I start a New Application at CPUT For 2025-2026

CPUT 2025-2026 Applications Now Open! Apply now for the 2025-2026 academic year at Cape Peninsula University of Technology! Both new and returning applicants can submit their applications online or on paper. Ensure you meet all requirements before starting. Online applications open May 2024 with course-specific closing dates in March 2025

The application is completed only once. You can continue with your application as long as you complete it before the deadline. However, you will be unable to continue your applications after the deadline.

 

When to apply for application at CPUT For 2025 Admissions

The online application form, which includes a pdf version, will be open on May 16, 2024. All undergraduate courses will close on September 30, 2024, while postgraduate courses will end on March 31, 2025. More information on the application courses and their respective dates can be found here. You are strongly advised to meet the deadlines or risk being denied admission for 2025.

 

Before you start A new Application, ensure you have the following documents

  • Copy of the proof of payment of your application fee
  • ID Document
  • A certified copy of your Senior Certificate or equivalent qualification
  • Certified copies of the original Academic record and Certificate of Conduct, or certified copies of other certificates/ diplomas/ degrees (Transfer Students Only)
  • Permanent Residency applicants: Passport and Proof of Permanent Residency/SA ID Document/Card
  • Refugee/Asylum seeker temporary permit/formal recognition of refugee status in the RSA
  • Passport
  • School leaving certificate should be submitted with the English translation of the certificate
  • SAQA Evaluation certificate
  • A scratch card (for students from the West African Examination Council (WAEC) and National Examinations Council (NECO).
  • Congo-Brazzaville applicants must submit the Liste des Admis au Bac
  • A certified copy of your school-leaving certificate, together with an English translation
  • Letter confirming registration for the upgrading of your results (SA Citizen currently upgrading Grade 12 results (including upgrading at any TVET College)

How to Start a new Application at CPUT For 2025

If you want to start a new application at Cape Peninsula University of Technology for the academic year 2025-2026, follow the steps below.

Have you already started an online application with CPUT?

Follow the leading questions and select the appropriate one:

  • Select NO to proceed to the next leading question
  • Yes, but I did not finish the process – Select Yes in the case where you have left the online application process without a student number allocated to you

Do you intend to apply for Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL)

  • Select NO to proceed to the next leading question

Have you previously applied to or studied at CPUT for any qualification including Short Courses (Short Learning Programmes)

  • Select NO to proceed to the next leading question
  • The following question will be displayed when selecting YES

Do you have a valid CPUT student number?

  • NO – will take you to the next leading question
  • I’m not sure – will take you to the application tracking system to look up your student number

Are you in possession of a South African ID?

  • YES – Select YES to proceed to the next leading question
  • NO – Applicants will not be able to proceed. Currently, online applications are only available to applicants with a South African ID.

Have you completed or are busy with a South African Matric (Grade 12/ NCV)?

  • Yes – Select YES to proceed to the next leading question
  • No – Applicants will not be able to proceed. Currently, online applications are only available to South African citizens who have completed or are busy with a South African School Leaving type. Applicants must follow the paper-based application process

 

Do you have all the required information and supporting documentation?

  • Yes – Select YES to proceed to the next leading question
  • No – download supporting documentation guidelines and documents for completion and submission
  • Unsure (See PDF) – Check for additional requirements as stipulated per qualification in the list provided.

Are you 18 years or older

  • No – Minor (younger than 18 years) must download the Minor Declaration form which the parents or legal guardians must sign. Sign and scan the document and have it ready to submit online during the online application process.
  • Yes – The following will be displayed
  • Click on the Start the online application the process to proceed with your application and the following screen will display

COMPLETE THE ONLINE APPLICATION INFORMATION

  • Do you already have a Student Number: Please enter NO

Returning to complete application:

  • Select NO if you are to access the online application for the first time
  • YES – Select YES if you have commenced applying online but did not complete the entire process up until the upload of supporting documentation and confirmation of your student number. You will not be able to upload your supporting documentation via the wizard once you have submitted your application online
  • Enter your ID Number and select the button

Consent to Process Personal Information

  • Scroll down with the scrollbar to read the entire POPI Act clause
  • Select the I ACCEPT and NEXT buttons
  • You will not be able to proceed If you select the I DO NOT ACCEPT button

  • Are you an SA Citizen in possession of a valid SA ID/ Birth Certificate? YES
  • NO – Non-South African (including Permanent Residency) citizens’ online application is permissible at this stage. Please submit a manual application form

  • Your first choice of qualification to study towards must be selected and captured. The next qualification that will be selected will become your second choice
  • The second and third choice of qualification is optional
  • If the eligibility indicates (NO) please refer to the prospectus for minimum admission requirements

  • Academic Year
  • Limit your selection to a specific Faculty/ School
  • Select the button and select the appropriate Faculty
  • Choose a programme
  • For which period are you applying
  • How would you like to study for this programme
  • When would you like to study for this qualification
  • Click on ADD QUALIFICATION button You may remove subjects already selected by clicking on the button

 

UPLOAD YOUR SUPPORTING DOCUMENTATION

  • All documents must be certified (except programme-specific requirements e.g. cover letter)
  • When uploading documents, ensure that the scanned file does not exceed 2MB, and that all documents are scanned in any of the following file types: tiff, pdf, jpg or gif
  • Each document must be scanned and uploaded as separate attachments
  • Your application will not be processed until all documents have been submitted
  • Enter Yes to submit documents and click on the NEXT button
  • Click on the Load/ View Document to submit your first document
  • Click on the UPLOAD DOCUMENT button
  • Select your saved scanned Matric document (document must be saved as .tiff, pdf, .jpg or .gif) from your device
  • Click on the SAVE and then the CLOSE button
  • Click on the CLOSE button again
  • Click on the CLOSE button again
  • Select the COMPLETE UPLOAD button to finalize your online application process
