The opportunity to apply and register for the 2027 academic year at the Cape Peninsula University of Technology (CPUT) begins on May 11, 2026. Prospective students are encouraged to understand how to complete the online application process, as it is the only accepted method of applying.

Deadline

All applications, including supporting documents, must be submitted by September 30, 2026. This is the closing date for the majority of undergraduate programmes for new entrants.

How to Apply Online to CPUT for 2027

Applying for a programme at CPUT follows a systematic online process. Below are the steps you must take, starting from preparation to final submission:

Step 1: Preparation and Selection

Consult the Prospectus: Before starting, check the 2027 Undergraduate Prospectus to ensure you meet the specific entrance requirements for your chosen qualification.
Gather Documents: Ensure you have certified copies of your ID/Passport and Grade 11 results (for current Grade 12 learners). Documents must be in JPEG, PDF, TIFF, or GIF format and under 2 MB.
Minor Declaration: If you are under 18, you must have your parent or guardian sign the Minor Declaration Form.

Step 2: Start the Online Application

Access the Portal: Visit the CPUT application page and select the option for applicants who have never applied before.
Accept Terms: Read and accept the POPIA Act agreement to proceed.
Biographical Details: Capture your nationality, ID/Passport number, names (exactly as they appear on your ID), date of birth, and gender.

Step 3: Provide Contact and Background Information

Address and Contact Info: Enter your street address, a valid cellphone number, and a personal email address.
Next of Kin & Account Contact: Provide the names and contact details for a parent, guardian, or person responsible for your account.
Disability Information: Indicate if you have any disabilities or impairments.

Step 4: Academic History

Matric Results: Enter your Grade 12 year and examination details.
Subject Details: Add your individual Grade 11 subjects, percentages, and symbols. A minimum of 7 subjects is typically required for NSC learners.
Educational Institutions: Search for and select the name of the high school you are currently attending.

Step 5: Select Your Programmes

Rank Choices: Select up to three choices. Your first choice must be the programme you most want to study.
Choose Faculty and Mode: Select the Faculty, the specific programme, your preferred campus, and whether you will study full-time or part-time.
Eligibility Check: The system will indicate “ELIGIBLE TO APPLY: YES or NO.” Selecting a “NO” programme will result in an automatic decline.

Step 6: Finalize and Submit

Create a PIN: Create a 5-digit numeric PIN to access the Student Online System (SOS) later.
Accept Rules: Read and accept the Academic and Residence Rules and Regulations.
Upload Documents: Upload your certified electronic documents. You generally have one chance to upload them during this stage.
Submit and Confirm: Click “Submit Application” and then “Complete Upload”. A Confirmation Page will display your unique CPUT Student Number.

You will receive an email notification confirming your application, student number, and PIN. You can then track your status on the CPUT website.

How to Track your Application

After submitting your online application, you will receive an email notification at the address you provided during the process. This email serves as confirmation of your submission and includes your unique CPUT Student Number and the 5-digit numeric PIN you created.

To track your status, you can use the following methods:

Tracking Link: Visit the official CPUT tracking page at www.cput.ac.za/study/track.
Student Online System (SOS): You can log into the SOS portal at www.cput.ac.za/sos using your student number and PIN to monitor your admission status and update details.

Please note that once your student number has been generated, you must use the SOS system for all future interactions, as you will no longer be able to access the initial application wizard.
