The first step to accessing the Rhodes University Online Application Portal (ROSS) is to register as an online user. Once you’ve completed the registration process, Rhodes University will provide you with login credentials.

If you’re already a student at Rhodes and have a student number and password, you can log in directly using those credentials. Otherwise, the login information will be included in the “Registration to Online Admissions” email you receive after registering.

Rhodes University welcomes online applications for both undergraduate and postgraduate programs for the academic year 2025-2026. Whether you’re a new applicant or an existing student, you can submit your application online by completing the designated forms within the portal.

While the online application is encouraged, existing Rhodes University students also have the option to submit their applications in person if they prefer.

The application process for the 2025-2026 academic year at Rhodes University will open on April 1, 2024. This is the date when the online application form will become available.

All applicants, regardless of their origin (South Africa or abroad), must submit their applications, along with any necessary supporting documents, online or by hand. The university emphasizes that all applications will close on September 30, 2024.

  • No manual posted or over-the-counter applications will be accepted
  • Please note that applicants are limited to three choices.

Completed application forms and accompanying documents must be submitted to the Admissions Office. You can submit your application form and accompanying documents in two ways:

Rhodes University 2025 Application Window

Applicants are expected to pay the application fee by the end of the official admissions deadline because the APPLICATION FEE is such an important part of the admissions process. In other words, late payments will be considered for late admissions and thus will not be considered for the 2025/2026 academic year. How to Apply Online At Rhodes University 2025-2026

Below is the online application process for Rhodes University

  • Step 1: Register on the online system at https://ross.ru.ac.za/ using your email address and creating a password
  • Step 2: You will then be sent an email with a link to activate you on the system.
  • Step 3: Click the link to activate your registration.
  • Step 4: This process will take you back to ROSS where you need to click the Admission/another button (clicking the right button here is important)
  • Step 5: You will then be allowed to enter your login and password created in step one.
  • Step 6: Once you have completed your application you need to tick the button accepting the terms and conditions and submit.
  • Step 7: When you submit, you must pay the R100 application fee. Various options are provided by the system.
  • Step 8: If you pay your application fee to the bank you need to use your application number as the reference and email the deposit slip to us.
  • Step 9: Once you have completed the process above Rhodes University will process the application and you will be provided with a student number and login PIN.

Rhodes University Admission Requirements

Your application will only be considered for admission to the University if you qualify for Bachelor’s degree study AND you satisfy the faculty requirements. To qualify for a Bachelor’s pass status, learners are required to take seven subjects, four of which are compulsory (two languages, Life Orientation and either Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy) and three of the learner’s own choice from the subjects on offer at the school.

NATIONAL BENCHMARK TESTS (NBTS)

It is recommended that all first-time university-entering South African applicants write the NBT’s. If the applicant does not meet the automatic entry requirements the NBT results will form part of the Dean’s decision-making on applications. These test results can also be used if a candidate does not meet the entrance requirements in their final examinations.
