Documents Required for the Admissions Process in 2025/2026
The documents listed below are required for the application process. The majority of applications are rejected because applicants did not upload or submit all required documents. To avoid disappointment, make sure to submit the following documents during the application period:
- Certified copies of your identity document
- Final Grade 11 & Grade 12 certificate ( June/ Trial report if you have not written your final examination)
- Students transferring from other universities should submit an original academic record and a certificate of good conduct
- A valid study permit
- A valid medical aid/health insurance cover
- A valid passport
Application Tips

How to Apply to DUT For 2025-2026
To submit an application form, prospective applicants must follow the steps outlined below. A step cannot be omitted for any reason. You must follow all of the instructions listed below to apply to the Durban University of Technology (DUT)

Apply for Students Number
- Go to the official website, cao.ac.za, and click “Apply.” After reading the information, click ” Continue with Application.”
- After you’ve entered your ID number, click “Submit.”
- Scroll to the bottom of the page and then click “Continue with Application.”
- Fill in ALL of the required information first.
- Once you’ve completed all of the required fields, click “Next.” It is necessary to click “Continue with Online Application.”
- Your CAO number, password, and EasyPay number will be visible and known in a pop-up window.
Perform the academic registration
- It is necessary to click “Continue with Online Application.”
- After thoroughly reading the instructions and providing ALL required information, click “Next.”
- Click “Next” after filling out the “Next of Kin” information.
- When the name of the school appears in a box, enter the dates of your initial enrollment and graduation before clicking “Search.” Repeat this process until all of the required fields are filled.
- To proceed, click “Next.”
- Now that your application has been submitted, click the button that says “process my application.”
- A notification will appear on your screen if your submission was successful.
- You can now pay online and upload supporting documentation.
- Submit the forms for approval.
Admission Requirements Of Durban University of Technology (DUT)
The number of slots available for a program heavily influences the selection. Meeting the admission requirement, on the other hand, is an important factor in the selection criteria. The most qualified applicants are chosen for the various programs. The requirements for degrees, diplomas, and certificates are listed below:
For Bachelor’s Degree: A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with the following minimum requirements:
- At least 60% in three fundamental subjects, including English; and
- At least 70% in four compulsory vocational subjects, chosen from the National Certificate (Vocational) Level.
For Higher Certificate: A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with at least 50% in English.
For Diploma: A National Certificate (Vocational) Level 4 with the following minimum requirements:
- At least 50% in three fundamental subjects including, English; and
- At least 60% in three compulsory vocational
