Eastcape Midlands TVET College provides National Accredited Technical Education Diploma (NATED) and National Certificate Vocational (NCV) Courses on all of their campuses throughout South Africa. Prospective students who want to study at the College must choose a course from their respective campus. Eastcape Midlands TVET College has eight campuses and offers a wide range of engineering, business, and occupational training programs.
When to Apply for a course for the academic year
Eastcape Midlands TVET College opened the 2024/2025 application window on September 1, 2023, and it will close on September 30, 2023. Because late applications are not guaranteed, you should apply as soon as possible because your preferred course may be full by the time the second window opens.

The college is well-known for its expertise and knowledge in business, engineering, and occupational courses. On all of their campuses, they offer all NCV AND NATED courses.
NATIONAL CERTIFICATE (VOCATIONAL) -NC(V)
Meaning and Purpose:
- It is a specialized National Certificate for a specific profession.
- This qualification is intended to address the country’s skills shortage by providing both theory and practice in the chosen career.
- In order to obtain a National Certificate (Vocational), a student is required to take a total of 7 subjects.
These include 3 fundamental subjects and 4 vocational subjects.
Application Requirements
- A year-
end school report for Gr 11 or Gr 12 certificate; or - An NQF Level 1 qualification; or
- An approved bridging program designed for the specific purpose to access NQF Level 2; or
- A Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) assessment to meet the basic requirements for access to NQF Level 2
- Grades 9 and 10 will be considered only in exceptional cases.

Meaning and Purpose
- Learners who have completed a Grade 12 Certificate with a minimum of a Higher Certificate achievement should consider studying for a National Diploma at a TVET College.
- The Report 191 (Nated) N4 – N6 Programmes, also known as Alternative Post-school Programmes
Application Requirements
- Candidates must have a high school diploma (NSC)
- All four subjects in the specific field must be taken by new students.
- Enrollment in these programs is contingent on meeting the DHET’s prescriptive targets.
- Students must complete the required number of working hours in the relevant field of the industry before receiving a National Diploma (18 months / 2000 hours for semester programs and 24 months / 2670 hours for trimester programs).

CERTIFICATES AND DIPLOMAS
Certificates
- Each subject covers a period of 6 months (Jan -Jun) or (Jul – Dec). 4 Subjects must be taken for each programme. Students who pass all the subjects will be issued with a National Certificate in the specific field of study.
- Certificates are issued by the National Department of Higher Education and Training in Pretoria, after completion of each level.
Diplomas
- After completing N6 and 18 months of relevant practical experience, students qualify for a National N-Diploma.
- National N Diplomas are approved and issued by the National Department of Higher Education and Training in Pretoria.
