The University of Johannesburg (UJ) has officially reopened applications for returning students for the 2026 academic year. Both undergraduate and postgraduate students can now reapply.

When to Reapply to UJ 2026

Prospective applicants who were not accepted for the 2025 academic intake can now reapply to the University of Johannesburg for the 2026 academic year. The university is currently accepting applications from all applicants, including those who previously applied. The application deadlines are as follows:

  • Domestic students: October 31, 2025
  • International applicants: September 30, 2025
  • Residential applications: October 31, 2025, 12:00 p.m.

All returning students seeking readmission to the University of Johannesburg for the 2026 academic intake can apply free of charge, with no administration fee required.

How to Reapply at the university of Johannesburg

Below are the steps to reapply to the University of Johannesburg:

  • Visit the UJ admissions page at www.uj.ac.za
  • Click on the “Returning OR Internal Applicant” link.
  • Enter your student number and PIN to log in.
  • If you’ve forgotten your PIN, click “Request a PIN” and enter your UJ student number to receive a new PIN in your registered email.
  • After receiving the PIN, log in using your student number and new PIN.
  • Complete all the required fields
  • Alternatively, download the application form from the official website and complete it manually.
  • Submit your completed hardcopy application form at any of the four UJ campuses or send it via post to the University.

Documents Required for UJ Re-applications

The following documents must be ready at the time of application and submission:

  • If you have completed your Grade 12 exams, you must provide a certified copy of your results.
  • Certified copy of your Grade 11 (if you are currently in Grade 12) (South African only)
  • A certified copy of your native country’s identification document
  •  A certified copy of your passport number from your home country
  • Study Visa in South Africa
  • Medical Report
  • English Proficiency For Undergraduate programs, proof of IELTS with an overall score of 6 and TOEFL with an average score of 80–104 is required
  • Sworn English Translation of documents (Documents issued in any Language other than English).
