Admission Requirements for undergraduate candidates at UWC For 2026

In order to study at the University of the Western Cape candidates need to meet the following criteria:

  • The National Senior Certificate (NSC) required for Degree, Diploma or Higher Certificate study, as appropriate
  • A minimum number of points calculated on the university’s points system
  • A pass at the required level in each of the subjects specified for the programme into which the candidate seeks admission

Fresh Applicants

  • Visit the UWC’s website at “www.uwc.ac.za/apply-now.”
  • Select Online Applications.
  • Select and Click on NEW APPLICATIONS
  • Choose Application Type (undergraduate or postgraduate student).
  • Choose your Study Mode (full-time or part-time student).
  • Enter your surname, first names, and email address.
  • Choose your identification type (South African ID or Foreign Passport).
  • Provide your South African ID number or passport number if you’re an international applicant.
  • Choose Your Program Type (Undergraduate or Postgraduate).
  • If you have previously studied at UWC, enter your student number.
  • Indicate if you are transferring from another institution.
  • Verify and confirm the email address you entered.
  • Accept the terms and conditions of the University of the Western Cape.
  • Fill in all sections, especially those marked with a “*”.

Please Note:

  • You will be emailed a confirmation letter once you have completed the online application (within 24-48 hours)
