How To Start A New Application At UWC 2025-2026
The University of the Western Cape (UWC) online application system is currently open for both freshmen and returning students for the 2025-2026 academic year. The application period began on May 13, 2024.
Selection of students for programs with limited spaces will be based on criteria established by faculty selection committees. However, all applicants must meet the minimum program requirements.
UWC Application Dates For 2025-2026
The online application for the University of the Western Cape will be open on May 13, 2024. Prospective students who want to attend the university must adhere to the following deadlines and apply accordingly. Please keep in mind that late applications will not be accepted.
- BA Honours Sport Recreation and Exercise Science, BA Honours in Biokinetics and BSC Honours Biokinetics close on 31 July 2024.
- Bachelor of Dentistry and Oral Health programs, as well as postgraduate degrees from the School of Government, will be closed on August 31, 2024.
- Transfer applications for 2024 will be accepted until September 30, 2024.
- All other undergraduate and postgraduate programs will be closed on September 30, 2024.
What You Need to Start a New Application at UWC
Prospective applicants starting a new application or resuming/continuing the previous must have the following:
- A senior certificate or a certified copy of your NSC certificate
- Certified Good Conduct Certificate from your current or former university
- Module content and Yearbook descriptors from your institution for all of the completed
- Modules, certified official academic transcript
- Certificate for a certified degree (if applicable)
- Your identification document.
- Your persnonal phone number and email address
- Proof of Residence
- A Google chrome browser for enquiries and online application

Admission Requirements for undergraduate candidates at UWC For 2025-2026
In order to study at the University of the Western Cape candidates need to meet the following criteria:
- The National Senior Certificate (NSC) required for Degree, Diploma or Higher Certificate study, as appropriate
- A minimum number of points calculated on the university’s points system
- A pass at the required level in each of the subjects specified for the programme into which the candidate seeks admission
How to Begin/start a New Application for 2025 at the University of the Western Cape
Follow the steps below to submit a new application at UWC
Fresh Applicants
- Visit the institution’s website at “https://www.uwc.ac.za/apply-now.”
- Select the “Apply now” option to proceed to the application portal
- Prior to moving forward, read the instructions thoroughly.
- Select a program. Look at the entry requirements before you choose. You can download the prospectus of UWC.
- When applying, the application system will also indicate if you meet the minimum requirements for a programme or not based on the results you have entered.
- If you do not meet the minimum requirements for a programme and are still awaiting final results you may continue to select the programme. A decision will only be made on your final results
- Complete the needed information, including the application year, and indicate your qualification.
- Complete your online application by completing all fields.
- Upload the critical documents. To upload essential application documents, log in with your Application Number. If you are a current student who needs to upload a copy of your ID document, you must log in using your Student Number.
- Click on “submit” to submit your application for review.
Returning Students
- To continue your application to UWC, you must re-enter the application portal at https://student.uwc.ac.za/ using your old student number and PIN. You do not require a new login.
- Accept the rules and regulations after carefully reading them.
- Select the qualification from the drop-down menu. You can type your qualification, and the programs associated with that qualification will be displayed on the screen.
- If you have finished selecting your course, save and continue.
- Accept the application in order to submit it.
After returning to complete the online application, upload any outstanding documents.
- Please note that you must use your Application Number to log in to upload the required application documents. Only log in with your Student Number if you are a current student who needs to upload a copy of your ID document
Please Note:
- You will be emailed a confirmation letter once you have completed the online application (within 24-48 hours)
- Applicants currently in grade 12 and applying for admission will receive a final outcome when final results are published in 2025
- All other applicants will receive an outcome by end November 2024
