MUT Admission Requirements For 2026 Intake

Each faculty at Mangosuthu University of Technology has specific entry requirements. To be considered for selection into a degree program, applicants must meet the following basic criteria:

Faculty of Management Sciences

  • English, Maths, and Accounting: All at 50% or higher
  • Additional departmental screening may apply
  • A minimum of 25 points is required for all programs

Faculty of Engineering

  • English, Maths, and Physics: All at 50% or higher
  • Additional departmental screening may apply

Faculty of Applied and Health Sciences

  • English, Maths, Physical Science, Agricultural Science, and Life Sciences: All at 50% or higher
  • Additional departmental screening may apply

Documents Required for MUT 2026 Applications

All prospective students are required by the Mangosuthu University of Technology to submit the following documents as part of the application process:

South African students

  • Proof of payment for the application fee
  • Grade 11 final results, grade 12 June exam results, National Senior Certificate or Statement of Results
  • Identity Document or ID card
  • Students transferring from other universities should submit an academic record and a certificate of conduct.

Foreign Students

  • A valid passport
  • A valid medical insurance cover
  • Police clearance certificate
  • SGCE, GCE, GCSE, IGCSE or Cambridge School Certificate
  • proof of payment (CAO processing fee)

  • Step 3: Pay the Administration Fee
  • To ensure your application is processed and sent to Mangosuthu University of Technology by the Central Applications Office (CAO), you must pay the required administration fee based on your citizenship status. Applicants can make the payment online either during the application process or later by returning to the payment portal after logging out. The CAO application and handling fees for the 2026 intake are as follows:
    • South African applicants: R250
    • International applicants: R300

MUT Accommodation Applications 2026 

Mangosuthu University of Technology provides campus housing and residence facilities to new students upon successful course registration. Applications must be submitted online and not directly at the residences.

All first-year applicants seeking accommodation for the 2026 academic intake must apply through the Central Applications Office (CAO) at www.cao.ac.za.
