Nelson Mandela University officially opened its application window on April 1, 2025. Students are encouraged to submit their applications by the following deadlines:
- 30 June 2025 – Deadline for Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBChB), Bachelor of Pharmacy (BPharm), and Bachelor of Radiography (Diagnostic) (BRad) applications.
- 01 August 2025 – Early application deadline for all other programs (excluding MBChB, BPharm & BRad).
- 30 September 2025 – Final deadline for late applications (excluding MBChB, BPharm & BRad).
- 30 September 2025 – Closing date for international student applications (excluding MBChB, BPharm & BRad).
Required Documents for Nelson Mandela University 2026 Applications (When to Submit)
The following documents must be submitted to Nelson Mandela University (NMU) as soon as possible before the application deadline. If any required documents are missing, you must upload them within the application period to avoid jeopardizing your admission.
- Certified copy of your identity document (ID) – Mandatory for South African applicants.
- Certified copy of your latest academic results – Grade 11 final results, Grade 12 June/September results, or final school-leaving certificate.
- Declaration form by parent/legal guardian/surety – This form can be downloaded from the university website.
- Certified copy of parent/legal guardian/surety’s identity document.
- Completed disability assessment form – Required if applicable.
- Official academic records and certificate(s) of conduct – For applicants who have previously studied at another higher education institution.
- Proof of residential/home or postal address.
Uploading Online Documents Instructions
- Each document must be scanned, saved and uploaded individually against each uploading Certificate code as indicated
- All documents should be scanned in any of the following file types: tiff, pdf, jpg or gif
- The maximum scanned file size is 5MB each.
How to Apply for NMU 2026
Nelson Mandela University encourages both new and returning students to apply online at www.mandela.ac.za free of charge. However, international applicants (non-South African citizens) are required to pay a non-refundable application fee of R550.
