UFH Admission Requirements For 2026 Intake

Each course at  the University of Fort Hare has its own specific entry requirements. To assist you, below are the minimum entry requirements for admission into Degree, Diploma and Higher certificate

  • Bachelor’s Degree: Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate with a Bachelor’s Degree endorsement.
  • Diploma: Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate with a Diploma endorsement.
  • Higher Certificate: Applicants must have a National Senior Certificate with a Higher Certificate endorsement.

In addition to the above, you must satisfy the following requirements:

  • An achievement rating of 4 (50–59%) or higher in English Home Language or English First Additional Language.
  • An achievement rating of 4 (50–59%) or higher in four subjects, plus at least a rating of 2 (30–39%) in one subject.
  • An achievement rating of 4 (50–59%) or higher in Life Orientation.

Documents Required for UFH 2026 Applications

All prospective students are required by  University of Fort Hare to submit the following documents as part of the application process:

Postgraduate Documents Required

  • Identity Document
  • Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
  • Original Proof of payment of the application fee
  • Matric Certificate
  • SAQA clearance certificate (foreign student)
  • Academic Record, including proof that the Certificate of Conduct has been requested from the previous University / University of Technology / Technikon if you had registered at another institution

Undergraduate Documents Required

  • Identity Document
  • Marriage Certificate (if applicable)
  • Original Proof of payment of the application fee
  • Grade 11 Final Results and Term 1 Grade 12 Results (If you are currently doing matric)

How to Apply at UFH 2026

Follow the guidelines and steps below to apply to  University of Fort Hare for admission 2026

  • Use Mozilla Firefox or Chrome
  • Ensure you have stable internet
  • Go to www.ufh.ac.za
  • Find and select the “APPLY NOW” section.
  • Choose the option to apply online.
  • Select “NO” for the first two questions, then enter your personal details (contact, email, and address).
  • Review and accept the terms and conditions.
  • Check your email for your student number and temporary PIN (which can be changed).
  • Log in using your student number and PIN.
  • Choose a program that fits your qualifications. (Select at least 3 study courses)
  • Pay the application fee online or offline and upload the payment receipt.
  • Complete all required fields.
  • Scan and upload required documents (each file must be under 5MB and in supported formats).
  • Save each document before proceeding to avoid data loss.
  • UFH will send an email confirming receipt of your application.
  • Check your application status

UFH Accommodation Applications 2026 

University of Fort Hare provides campus housing and residence facilities to new students upon successful course registration. Applications must be submitted online and not directly at the residences.

  • The closing date for all applications is 31 October 2025. Late applications will not be accepted due to limited space.
  • NSFAS students must have a provisional or firm acceptance before being admitted into a residence.
  • Bursary students must provide proof of their bursary upon registration.
  • To apply for residence, you can either indicate your accommodation preference on the application form or follow these separate steps to apply for UFH campus accommodation:
    • Visit the website at www.ufha.c.za
    • Select the “UFH Accommodation” option
    • Fill out the application form
    • Attach any necessary documents
    • Submit your completed application
    • Please note that incomplete applications will not be processed.
