UFS Online Application Opening Date For 2027

The University of the Free State (UFS) has officially announced that applications for the 2027 academic year will open in April 2026. UFS invites all eligible students—regardless of nationality, educational background, or language proficiency—to prepare in advance for the opening date.

The University of the Free State will begin accepting applications for the 2027 academic year on 1 April 2026. In this article, you will find all the information you need to guide you through the application process. We encourage you to read carefully and start preparing for your application.

How to Apply at UFS Online for Admission

All University of the Free State 2027 applications must be submitted online, unless otherwise specified on the official website. To apply online, follow the steps below:

• Go to www.ufs.ac.za
• Click on the “How to Apply” tab.
• Under step 4, select ONLINE APPLICATIONS.
• Enter your identity number.
• Choose your field of study and program.
• Complete all required fields marked with an asterisk (*).
• Upload your supporting documents. Ensure that they are in the correct format and follow the upload instructions.
• No online application fee is required.
• Click Review to proofread the information.
• Once satisfied, submit your online application.
• Monitor the status of your application online.
• Apply for Residency if applicable.

NOTE:

Your UFS University 2027 online application will only be submitted once you have:

• Fully completed the online application form
• Uploaded all required supporting documents in pdf format as seen below
  • All Applicants:
    • Certified ID or birth certificate
    • Application form

     

  • Local Applicants:
    • Certified copy of Grade 12 examination results
    • Grade 11 results if you have not completed Grade 12 yet

     

  • Foreign Applicants:
    • Certified copy of the first page of your passport
    • Medical report
    • Proof of English language proficiency (if English was not your medium of instruction)
    • Study visa
• Please note that if you haven’t clicked “SUBMIT,” your application will not be submitted
• Application is free of charge

UFS 2027 Application Dates

Applications for all University of the Free State (UFS) undergraduate and postgraduate programmes for the 2027 academic year open on 1 April 2026. The closing dates for specific programmes are as follows:

• 31 May 2026 → Health Sciences & Sport programmes

• 31 July 2026 → Nursing, Social Work, and Architecture programmes

• 31 August 2026 → International applications

• 30 September 2026 → All other non-selection programmes

Applicants are advised to submit their applications before the relevant deadlines to ensure consideration.
