Apply UWC Now for the 2025-2026 Academic Year

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) is opening its online application portal for the 2025-2026 academic year on May 13, 2024. This applies to all undergraduate (certificate, diploma, and degree) and postgraduate (master’s, honours, and Ph.D.) programs.

University of the Western Cape (UWC) Application Dates

The University of the Western Cape (UWC) will accept applications for all qualifications starting on May 13, 2024. The application deadline is September 30, 2024. Applications received after this date will only be considered if space becomes available in the program. Be sure to submit your application on time to ensure the best chance of being accepted.

What You Need to Apply for Admission at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) for 2025-2026

This applies to transfer applicants from another university. Here are the documents you’ll need to submit for your online application to UWC:

  • Certified copy of your NSC Certificate or Senior Certificate
  • Certified copy of your Identification document
  • Certified Certificate of good conduct from your current/previous institution
  • Certified Official Academic Transcript
  • Module content / Yearbook descriptor from your institution for all modules completed
  • Certified Degree certificate (if applicable)

Post-Matric Learners: If you have written the NSC examination already, you need to submit the following:

  • Certified copy of your NSC certificate or Senior Certificate
  • Certified copy of your identification document
  • Proof of any studies with academic records, if applicable, you may have completed
  • If applicable, proof that you are currently improving your NSC results
  • In an affidavit a brief description of activities post-matric/NSC

International Students: From countries other than South Africa

  • You need to submit your final school results to Universities South Africa (USAf) for an evaluation
  • Application for Exemption is to be done with Universities South Africa (USAf) formerly Higher Education South Africa (HESA).
  • UWC unfortunately will not be able to respond to your application until you submit a confirmation letter issued by USAf stating that you qualify to study at a South African University.
  • Certified copy of your passport.

 Steps to Apply for UWC 2025-2026?

To apply for your undergraduate or postgraduate course, please follow the steps below. If you have never enrolled at the University of the Western Cape (UWC) before, you can apply online by clicking the link and following the instructions below.

Step 1; Log in to the application portal

  • Visit the institution’s website at “https://www.uwc.ac.za/apply-now.”
  • Select the “Apply now” option to proceed to the application portal
  • Prior to moving forward, read the instructions thoroughly.

Step 2: Select and choose your field of study

  • Select a program. Look at the entry requirements before you decide. You can download the prospectus of UWC.
  • When applying, the application system will also indicate if you meet the minimum requirements for a programme or not based on the results you have entered.
  • If you do not meet the minimum requirements for a programme and are still awaiting final results you may continue to select the programme. A decision will only be made on your final results

Step 3: Complete the online form

  • Complete the needed information, including the application year, and indicate your qualification.
  • Complete your online application by completing all fields.

Step 4: Upload all the supporting documents and Submit them for Review

  • Upload the critical documents. To upload essential application documents, log in with your Application Number. If you are a current student who needs to upload a copy of your ID document, you must log in using your Student Number.
  • Click on “submit” to submit your application for review.

UWC Paper-based Application for 2025-2026

You can print a hard copy of the application form from the official website and fill it out by hand with a pen. Application forms and supporting documentation must be submitted to the Admissions Office. You have two options for submitting your application form and supporting documents:

  1. Forms can be hand-delivered to the Central Admissions Office
  2. Forms can also be posted to the Admissions Office.

UWC Admission and Entry Requirements for the 2025-2026 Academic Year

UWC admission requirements for entry-level programmes adhere to national legislation and therefore the following are required:

  • The minimum admission requirement is a National Senior Certificate (NSC)
  • Bachelors pass – an achievement rating of 4 (adequate achievement 50-59%) or better in four subjects chosen from the recognized 20-credit NSC subjects.
